Q: how to stop Acid reflux during pregnancy?
i havent experienced any heartburn but have horrible acid reflux!! it burns so bad on the back of my throat, i’ve never had it before i was pregnant. is there any ways of reducing the symptoms? i dont want to take medicine or anything so home remedies are a must, any help would be great. oh and i’m 29 weeks pregnant with my first child

A: I have acid reflux sometimes too..my sympathies..I know how horrible it can be. My doctor gave me a list of Safe Medications to take during pregnancy: You can take: Tagament, Zantac, Pepcid, Tums, Mylanta, Maalox, Gaviscon and PeptoBismol.

I was so excited though when I read in my natural remedies book that KIWI FRUIT can help acid reflux. I didn’t believe it…. but I ate one and felt a little better. After eating two, the discomfort was gone!!! My book says the fruit has soothing enzymes that help nuetralize the acid. A few weeks ago I tried dried kiwi and it seemed to help as well.. although I bet fresh fruit works better.

Q: Is heartburn or acid reflux like pain a symptom of pregnancy?
also…. if the pregnancy would only be about a week and a half or two weeks, would this show that soon?
i didn’t think a test would show a positive yet… i hadn’t really even considered the possibility of being pregnant until right now… i’m only asking because i did have unprotected sex & i’ve never had this pain before ever. weird coincidence maybe??

A: Heartburn is one symptom quite a few women deal with during pregnancy. However,for you I don’t believe that is the case. You wouldn’t be having symptoms this soon. It’s not likely you’ve even had a positive test yet.

Hi everyone

My fiance and i had sex 3 times during my past ovulation days (it was around 27th-1st Sept) and i have a feeling i could have gotten pregnant. I had cramps the end of last week, like period pains. It also feels very uncomfortable laying on my stomach when i sleep which i usually always do. Iv also noticed smells alot more.

However the fast few days iv been feeling like theres something stuck in my throat and no matter how much i cough or drink i can still feel it. I had had a look and i cannot see anything there. It just comes and goes during the course of the day and is very annoying.

Could this possibly be an early pregnancy symptom? has anybody else had this before?

My period is due the end of the week so i was thinking about taking a First Response test Wednesday. Are they very reliable?

Unfortunately I miscarried 15.08.09 at 5weeks. But after my bleeding stopped on 22.08.09 we started TTC again and now I think (HOPE!) I could be pregnant again!

I’ve been having cramps since 01.09.09 and I first noticed that it was very uncomfortable to lie on my stomach on 02.09.08. I also noticed smells more on 02.09.09. And today, although I wasn’t hungry, I had some toast because I felt a little queasy and almost straight away I started to experience the same throat sensations as you!

It certainly sounds like you could be pregnant – when are you going to test?

I’m also experiencing:
* Constipation
* Loose stools at times
* Lower back ache
* Hot sweats at night
* Vivid dreams (one where my Dad bought baby items ready for when he child minds my baby!)
* Slight nausea
* Burping
* Gas
* Irritability
* Crying for no reason (cried during the Xfactor yesterday!)
* Cramps
* Feel warm, but no temperature
* Full bottom feeling (sorry, tmi!)
* Not very hungry
* An odd feeling low down in my abdomen before and after I wee
* Noticing smells more
* Stronger smelling and darker yellow wee, more noticeable first wee of the day (sorry!)
* Stuffy nose, was runny a few days ago
* Dizzy/light-headed when I get up quickly

But I don’t have sore boobs.

I dropped a sample of my first morning wee in at the doctors today, so hopefully I will know tomorrow afternoon. But because I haven’t had a period since my m/c I have no dates to go on, so I don’t know how many dpo I am which means it could be too early to test (Before my m/c my period was 13-18th July 09)

what really causes acid reflux. My wife has never had this before along with nausea…and hunger. it comes and gos. like today shes fine..but it seems ironic for her to have these symptoms if shes not pregnant??
We are wanting a child and trying so I just need advise or someone who knows the chances..nausea seems like pregnancy but acid relfux seems like it too….

A: it could be either. Best bet is to go to the doctor and have them do a blood test. Because acid reflux can become dangerous and she needs to be put on meds if she has it.

My period ended July 19th and I have had unprotected with my husband since then. I did have sex around ovulation. I am wondering if I am going crazy, but I have had these lower back cramps on the left side, (kind of like menstrual cramps, but not near as severe) and my acid reflux has been really bad for about 5 days even though I have stayed away from everything that makes it flare up and I have taken my Aciphex but no help so far! I have also been pretty tired the last couple of days with a few headaches. If I did conceive during ovulation it would have been around the 27th-the 31tst, is it possible for me to feel symptoms this early? I should not have my period for another 6 days.

A: Yes you can have symptoms this early, I did with all 3 of mine. I always knew I when I was prego, way b4 a test could even tell me. But that dont mean you are cause it can be in you’r head too, if you are too worried about it. Wait for the right time to take a hpt, to know for sure. good luck, and congrats if you are.

I have to ask for your opinion… am I feeling pregnancy symptoms or is AF coming? These are my symptoms: light cramping, heartburn/acid reflux (which I never have!), lower back pain, on and off breast tenderness, slight nausea, more tired than usual, bloating, MOODY, and I am urinating like crazy.

A: Sounds like a pregnancy to me, these are the symptoms I had with both of mine. I had menstrual cramping as if my body were trying to have a period, but it never happened. You know, I didn’t have insurance with my second one, and I used a midwife. A: Sounds promising. Yes the symptoms can come and go. Go to www.peeonastick.com . They have a section with early pregnancy symptoms that women posted that they experienced before they found out they were pregnant. How far along would she be? I took a pregnancy test at 9 days past ovulation and got a positive. She may be able to take a test now.

Q: 14 weeks pregnant with no pregnancy symptoms…?
I have 2 kids and during those pregnancies, I experienced nausea, vomiting, fatigue, sore breasts, acid reflux, pretty much all the normal pregnancy symptoms. Q: Pregnancy symptoms?
I have been having pregnancy symptoms. I’ve been extremely tired, sore breast, acid reflux (which I have never had before and read that some women get it early in pregnancy, and very vivid dreams. I am due to start my period tomorrow and had very mild cramping off and on yesterday. I took a pregnancy test last night and it was negative. Could I still be pregnant? Has anyone else had these symptoms and when did you get a negative before getting a positive?

A: It may be too early to test. If AF still doesn’t come, try testing again in a few days.

I use the Nuvaring, and recently I left it in for too long and had sex with my husband, I never started my period because I took out the old ring and automatically put a new one to skip my period because I was starting a new job and didn’t want to be miserable.

A: Yes dear its very common to be pregnant and having negative urine ( HCG ) pregnancy test. The best thing you can do is go to your doctor and get a blood pregnancy test. Blood test is more sensitive and will probably give you the right result. You an also get an Ultrasound, for a normal pregnancy you can get a positive visualization by ultra sound at 6-8 weeks. Don’t worry too much. I wish you the very best.

A: You may have a urinary tract or kidney infection. The most obvious symptom is the frequent need to urinate. Usually only a small amount comes out, but that may not be the case if you drink a lot of liquid. Also, usually the urine burns, but again that doesn’t always happen. They do cause a person to feel nausea. Another possible symptom is lower back, side, and/or upper leg pain. If you have a very slight fever, that is also sometimes a symptom (and I mean very slight, like 1 degree or .5 degrees above normal).

I’m prone to these, to have had enough to know what I’m talking about, unfortunately.

They can also be caused by sex. During sexual intercourse the bacteria from the vagina, which is natural and good in the vagina, can find it’s way to the urethra. There it isn’t naturally present and causes infections.

For right now, drink a lot of fluids, if you aren’t allergic or it won’t interfere with medication, take an over the counter like AZO or Uristat for the pain/urgency. Some people report that mixing baking soda with water and drinking that helps with pain, it’s sometimes helped me in that respect, but it doesn’t do anything for the need to pee. But in the mean time, as you do those things just to help your comfort level, you need to arrange to see a doctor RIGHT AWAY. These infections don’t go away on their own, you need antibiotics. The infection can become especially serious if it works it’s way into your kidneys from your bladder. You don’t want that, trust me.

Q: ttc and having bad acid reflux. side effect of prometrium or could it be pregnancy?
Ok well i started taking prometrium 8 days ago and ill start clomid in about 8 days. I’m taking this because my dr said that I’m not ovulating (dispite possitive opks every month) he thinks I’m not ovulating beacuse of my period

They has always been around the 1st of the month a 30 day cycle and it normally last 7 days but in september that all changed… I started on sep. 4th-8th then again sep. 13-18 then in oct I started spotting brown 21-26 and then on oct 26-30 I started bleeding red with clots severe pain and very heavy. I got a possitive opk on nov. 9th. then af on nov 21-24. I had a possitive opk dec 2nd. I started prometrium on dec. 2nd.

And all day today I have had severe acid reflux that is not relived with tums. I have also but on about 6 pounds, been extremly tired lately, have been getting dizzy, having some headaches, oh a lots of clear (sometimes whitish) oderless discharge but I know these are also side effects of prometrium (except the acid reflux)
I’m just wondering what yall think these symptoms are caused from and if it sounds like I’m not ovulating. Just looking for any advice

Oh and I’m gonna test in the morning just to feel better

A: Hi! I just started prometrium also! I am on my 6th day. I would ignore all the symptoms because they are side effects of prometrium. I also have acid reflux (for the 1st time since I was pregnant with child #1). I am happy that I can blame all my “symptoms” on prometrium so I don’t get my hopes up! Babydust!
