Q: Is there a once for all ‘one size fits all medical solution’? surgery? tabs? syrups? diet restriction?
Is there any relation between bad odour of the mouth and the problem herein below?
A friend of mine has a bad mouth odour. A very disgusting one. Very disturbing. Is there any relation between bad odour of the mouth and ulcers (sores in the lining of the stomach or small intestine), gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), a condition in which backward flow of acid from the stomach causes heartburn and injury of the esophagus (tube that connects the mouth and stomach), and erosive esophagitis (swelling and wearing away of the lining of the esophagus)??? Please explain at length if u know about the problem? what is the solution? is it curable or is it controllable? if curable, how? if controllable, how? does it really have a once and for all one size fits all solution? is it a life long problem like diabetes, hypertension etc? i wish as many people as possible comment, participate on this discussion. feel free to comment in any manner u think is right and appropriate. here we are! GO AHEAD!

A: For oral health (actually it’s a bit of a cure all). I advocate MMS.

Purchase it: (there are MANY sources that make MMS, but this is my choice)

http://mms-lab.com/shop/

Protocol as a mouthwash:
2 drops of MMS, with 2 drops of citric acid. Make sure the drops mix, and let sit for about 30 seconds. Mix with about half a cup of luke warm water. Rinse the mouth with it for about one minute. You wont experience any plaque build up for about 24 hours. Way more affective than mouthwash and tooth paste.

Though I don’t know how affective it will be if the source of the smell is come from down the throat.

—
Acid Reflux and ulcers.

http://www.mandarinconsulting.com/acid-reflux-causes-remedies.htm

I also know that eating bananas are extremely good for ulcers.

Further search reveals that bananas can be good for acid reflux specifically, but I’m reading arguments from both side of the fence. It appears to ease some GERD sufferers yet agitate others.

—-

I recommend fasting.

Fasting over night without dinner.

Prolonged Juice Fasting.

http://juicefasting.org

and Water Fasting.

Juice fasting is the best way to start out since you’ll burn less callories and therefore eliminate toxins at a slower rate, therebye avoiding a herx reaction.

Therefore this gives the digestive system time to heal.

I don’t know how your friend would react drinking home made juice though.

Your friend can also try water fasting. But it’s best to fast one day at a time, maybe 1 or 2 days a week about 6 or 7 times before attempting a prolonged 5-7 day fast in order to avoid a herx (healing reaction from toxin purging.)

Personally, I love fasting and I do it for the health benefits alone. The first 2 or 3 days can be tough, but as you enter the 2nd stage of the fast, you will feel AMAZING and the best you have ever felt since you were a kid, and I swear my life on that statement, so try it lol.

—

I forgot, your friend also needs Vitamin C. On average EVERYONE needs atleast 1 gram a day, but in your friends case i would say atleast 2 grams.

Vitamin C is extremely important for the body.

Read this:

http://www.dummies.com/how-to/content/how-your-body-uses-vitamin-c.html

Vitamin C is essential for some proteins in the body, such as the creation of collagen fibers, the 100% Daily recommended value (DRV) is not sufficient for a healthy body, and over time leads to chronic scurvey (heart disease, cardiovascular disease and plaque build up).

Your friend may also benefit from L-Lysine which is an essential amino acid.

Q: Will curing G.E.R.D. have a very large impact on breathing problems?
I have been considering Nissen fundoplication surgery for my hiatal hernia, and would like to hear from people that have already had this done. I want to know, specifically, if this surgery improved any of the respitory conditions associated with GERD.

Also, will this place any restrictions on my pilot certificate?

Here is a crap load of background about me:

At one point I had done everything the doctor told me, including eliminating food from my diet that aggravates the condition, loosing weight until I was within the “healthy” parameters for my age/height/fitness, altered my sleep angle, and was on Nexium, Previcid, and Gaviscon. All of these actions helped the condition, but did not eliminate the symptoms. In fact, the symptoms were still so bad, that I gave up on the treatments.

I have been suffering from G.E.R.D. for my entire life, as I was born with a hiatus hernia. I also have hyperhydrochlorhydria, which aggravates the gastroesophageal reflux disease, as well as causing Gastritis and similar symptoms in the lower GI tract.

As well as the common symptoms of G.E.R.D., I have also been diagnosed with chronic bronchitis as a child, and then later diagnosed with asthma as an adult. (it is believed that G.E.R.D. can cause asthma)

The spasms in my stomach as well as the acid levels have been much higher lately due to some increased stress. These increases have led to Laryngopharyngeal reflux, which seems to be causing sleep apnea like symptoms.

Once I can aford health insurance, I’ll happily go through the same process where the physician and specialists tell me to change my diet, lose weight, take drugs, so on and so forth. Eventually, i will have exhausted all the non-surgical options, and I’ll probably opt for the surgery.
RE: Sandy

Acutally, yes, I do have discomfort in my ears, as well as (gag) a lot of wax!

I’ve actually had fifteen reoccuring ear infections, as well as some vertigo and swimmer’s ear. According to Wikipedia, this can be connected to the GERD and LPRD
I forgot to mention that I have the “lump” sensation associated with LPRD, as well as throat pain. I decided to add these details as others had commented that they have these symptoms. Although it is not relavent to my question, I feel these added details may help shed some light on their conditions.

Check out http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gastroesophageal_reflux_disease for GERD info, annd look for the links for LRPD and asthma

A: Well, from personal experience I can say that, yes, it did have a great impact on my ability to breathe. Mine only flares up once in a while, but when it does, it gives me asthma. I am not allergic to anything and the feeling of not being able to breathe correctly while having the chest pain from the gerd was scary, I thought I was having a heart problem!!! Once I take the neccessary steps to get the gerd under control with my meds, better diet, and sleeping posture… then I can breathe free & easy again. I don’t have the hiatal hernia, so I never needed the surgery. I wish you good luck!

edit/// To “Sandy”: Yeah, my gerd did that too. It caused pain in my esophagus & throat… sometimes the pain shot up into my ribs, neck, and ears too!!! The nerves in my esophagus are weird like that. Sometimes, also, the acid that would come up at night would make my throat hurt and sometimes give me a hoarse voice & sore throat, which would affect my ears too!

Q: I know what foods to avoid, but would like a list of foods good to eat with a vegetarian diet for acid reflux.

A: There is many things, most vegetables are alright as with rice and such if done in moderation. The easiest thing for you to do would have smaller meals, that is what I do. If you eat smaller meals and have a few (5-7) it will allow you to have larger portions of things such as carbs.

I am not a doctor, so either way you will want to talk to them, but this is what I have to say as a long time sufferer of Acid Reflux (G.E.R.D.)!

Three part answer: information, what not to do, and what to do!

INFORMATION!!!!!!
I have a very severe case of Acid Reflux (G.E.R.D.). I have had to go to the hospital for some of the heartburn that I have had because the pain can become overwhelming or your breathing can be effected. It can be caused by Smoking, Drinking Beverages with caffeine (My case with hereditary), Drinking Beverages with Alcohol, Stress, Anxiety or can be Hereditary

The good thing about G.E.R.D. is that it can be a temporary thing and can be cured. It is never a permit thing even if you end up with it for the rest of your life it has the ability to be cured.

G.E.R.D. is caused by too much acid being created in your stomach. This can lead to or cause ulcers, esophagus damage, heartburn and/or damage in the mouth. . Other symptoms that can be found in a few cases are dizziness, tingling in limbs, numbness of Limbs, Chest/Back pain focused on the left side (in most cases), and shortness/difficulty breathing.

WHAT NOT TO DO!!!!!!!!
In most cases, stress is a factor to the reflux if you watch what you eat and reduce some of the stress it will help. If you watch what you eat for about a week you should find relief, if you do not then that is when you definitely what to listen to the doctor. Things to watch for are as follows:

Fatty Foods
Citrus Foods
Oranges (Juice and fruit)
Lemon (Juice and fruit)
Foods That Contain Grease
Fried Foods
Potatoes (Starch)
Buffalo wings
Chocolate (including any Coco)
Caffeine
Smoking
Alcohol
Doughnuts
Brownies
Cake
Tomato Based Products
Lactose
Sour Cream
Cottage Cheese
High amounts of Carbohydrates
Roughage (Berries and Nuts)
Onions

WHAT TO DO!!!!
The two foods that I recommend is Black strap Molasses and Raw honey. The apple is better for night time reflux while these will work for just about all of it. What you will do is take about a tsp. of whatever one you chose. Molasses being the better because of strength and nutrition, but must be use to the taste. What the substance will do is stick to the sides of the esophagus and do two things, one is heal and the other is protect.
On the healing end, both substances have a healing property in them, and as they sit on the walls of the esophagus they will heal it. This is also helpful if you have a sore throat in the morning from refluxing.
On the protection end, both substances are high in sugar and when acid that is refluxed comes up to that the sugar will neutralize it and it will not longer be a problem at that point.

I would also look to putting Cinnamon and Ginger in you diet, they have been know to help with digestion and will help you reduce the amount of acid needed to brake down food, therefore causing you to reflux less.

Q: When breastfeeding, are there any foods can cause acid reflux that I should avoid?
I have been told by several people to eat a very bland diet and then reintroduce to see what foods my baby may have reactions too.
I am looking for any foods that would cause the baby acid reflux.

A: The most likely offender is cow’s milk products (in baby’s or mom’s diet). Other things to ask yourself: is baby getting anything other than breastmilk – formula, solids (including cereal), vitamins (fluoride, iron, etc.), medications, herbal preparations? Is mom taking any medications, herbs, vitamins, iron, etc.?

Q: acid reflux?
Would someone be so kind as to tell me which foods I should avoid while on the reflux diet.

A: You may try healing your acid reflux so you can eat anything you want. Prilosec taken for a full week helped me.

Then I found out about a natural cure, this works too. Potato juice (raw), put it in a blender, add a little water, then strain. You can add honey, it is bland. A juicer works well too.

Or

Cabbage juice is equally helpful in helping the body produce a protective coating to your stomach. Put it in a blender and strain, no need to add extra water. It is bland, almost no taste.

The third thing you can do is train the valve to stay closed. I got this from a doctor. First thing in the morning, drink 8 oz water on an empty stomach. Then raise up on your toes and set back down on your heels quickly, to make the stomach drop. Do this 11 times. It forces the valve at the neck of the esophagus closed. To see this work, fill a balloon with water and hold it by the neck, bounce it. Same principal.

Everyone had great ideas on foods to avoid, they are all true. But I could not live my life avoiding all the things I loved.

Just a final note: Stress reduces the body’s ability to make that protective coating in the stomach. Relaxation helps the body get back in balance again. Try a massage if you can afford one.

Good luck!

Q: Healing foods for acid reflux- (from celiacs- and i do not eat acid causing foods)?
NO answer of foods to avoid thank you- I already know that!!!!

I was told by a Endoscopist that there are foods that can be eaten to help heal acid reflux- I have had celiacs disease for over 40 years
and due to that I got acid reflux- IT”S NOT FROM ACID CAUSING FOODS- but from the damage of celiacs- WHICH I AM ON A DIET FOR AND DOING WELL ON BUT STILL HAVE BAD ACID REFLUX- dr said it will take a long time to heal and that eating certain foods would help

I was told that I should eat foods that will help to heal it- he said even if I avoid acid causing foods that won’t help because it was caused by over 30 years of eating glutens- only found out in 2002 that i had celiacs.
He didn’t have a list of foods that can help to cure it- i do not eat spicy foods or drink caffeine, etc…
So what foods- OTHER THAN YOGURT- can i eat

I know people have healed their esphagus from eating foods but what did they eat?

or do you know of any websites that can help that have those foods listed
and i do not over-eat or eat too close to bed either
i have heard that apples can help but what else could
LisaRox5 you are truely awesome- finally a answer that deserves my praise LOL- thank you so much!!!! you are a blessing!!!!
printed and ready to buy some- i have fish and other stuff already so that’s cool to know they can help. thanks

A: I too have acid reflux, here is a list my doctor recomended

• Apple juice
• Banana
• Baked potato

Q: what diet is appropriate for someone who suffers from acid reflux?and esophagitis. ?
i need a list of what to eat foods and foods that has to be avoided.if possible give me a list of what kinds of foods.

A: I had been suffering really bad and discovered that I have an ulcer in the esophagus , my Doctor gave me an alkaline diet to follow and Proton pump inhibitors .After 2 months the symptoms didn’t improve so I carried on with the diet but separated the food groups as in food combining like (Hay diet ).My symptoms have greatly unproved , now im going to elevate my bed head ( using too many pillows just scrunches the stomach )and make sure I don’t go to bed after eating .I haven’t had any alcohol for a few months and I stay away from acidic foods.Good luck hope you get better soon and remember a lot of it can be trial and error.

Q: Need help with question about acid reflux and tums?
I found out in 2002 I have acid reflux- i avoid caffeine and when I have spaghetti i only use about 2 tbsp- 1/8 c sauce- always had liked just a little sauce. Anyway, I take protonix 2x a day because I have a ulcer (lots of stress going on) the ulcer is healing

my question is i also take tums and just wanted to know what peoples thoughts were on tums? I take the ultra strength 1000

I do avoid acid causing foods and drinks and
I do EXERCISE
this questions is about tums and nothing else- but if anyone wants to add info on other alternative ways to calm acid let me know

also I have acid reflux because i was born with celiacs disease- anyone who has it is born with it but develope it later on
My mom said I threw up my formula and all the times in my life I was sick we know why now- I found out in 2002 and it is what caused my acid reflux- years of eating what i shouldn’t- now i am on a strict gluten-free diet and I love it and even wrote my own cookbook
susiecat- thank you- you are a doll!
baking soda is ok but i am 40 amd tums is better because it has calcium- any extra calcium is good- esp since bone degeneration may run in the family
lyric- keep your site to yourself- stop solicitng on Y!A

A: I do not have the medical history you do, but I do have acid reflux! (It was definitely diagnosed as GERD)
I have been on Prilosec for quite a few years – but sometimes, I have breakthrough acid.
My gastroenterologist said it is perfectly safe to use Tums now and then (avoid any that have the ingredient sorbitol (this can cause digestive problems of its own.) Some forms of Tums, I believe have sorbitol)
Stress and anxiety can cause extra acid – and you have to try to reduce these conditions (not easy)
Everything you are doing is very positive – and I applaud you for your efforts.
Other than, Tums won’t hurt you, I can’t really offer anymore suggestions.
You sound like you are doing everything right.
It wouldn’t hurt to ask your doctor about the Tums – Just to be on the safe side.
TakeCare!

Q: What is good for a breastfeeding mother to eat if her infant has acid reflux?
My daughter is 4 weeks old and has acid reflux and I feel like I am starving. Can anyone give me ideas on what I can eat, I am currently avoiding dairy and citrus foods. So I am eating potatoes, bread, pasta and pears. So if anyone has been thought on this and can give me an idea of a diet that would be great. Seriouse answers only please, thanks.

A: Unfortunately, it is trial and error. Every baby is different. Just like what causes you heartburn won’t affect someone else, and vice versa. I had to stay away from anything that had tomatos when I breastfed my daughter. I couldn’t eat pizza, marinara sauce, chili, no raw tomatoes, cooked tomatoes, etc. Experiment with foods. Eat bland plain foods for 2 out of 3 meals until you can pinpoint what in the “3rd” meals is causing her acid reflux to flare up.

Q: Foods that neutralize stomach acid?
I am on acid-free diet so i can cure my acid reflux and heal my esphogas
But since I’ve had acid reflux for over 40 years just avoiding foods isn’t helping and
I DO NOT WANT TO TAKE DRUGS-
i heard papaya neutralizes stomach acid
is there any other foods or healthy drinks you know that do

i avoid caffeine- never drink the stuff anyway- and sodas and fatty food, etc…
the problem is milk make mucus so not sure that’s the best to take like before bed- but thanks i will try it during the day
i can’t eat crzckers much i have celiacs- so i eat gluten-free pretzels- i have noticed i lost a little weight since i started my acid-free diet- since i have to avoid fats

A: I know that milk helps your throat after you’re refluxed…

Q: The best deal for Heartburn No More?
I have searched all over the internet for the absolute best offer.

A: tums

Q: I am really desperate for a heartburn remedy!! How can I change my diet and help it go away?
So I’m sick of taking tums in mass quantities all the time. I know my heartburn usually comes from drinking too much coffee, and sometimes I am more successful at restraining myself.

I don’t like taking medications like Zantac or Pepcid…I am looking for a soothing drink that would help my throat/chest.

Also, what foods should I definitely avoid to reduce acid reflux?

A: Hello. If you know your heartburn comes from drinking to much coffee, and you can’t control yourself,, maybe you should try switching to decaf. My grandmother used to take 1 tsp of baking soda and put it in about a half a glass of water, and she swore by it. She had a hyadal hernia and she had AR really bad. And it tastes about like an Alka Seltzer. Some things that may sooth your stomach are, pineapple, banana’s, and believe it or not a tbsp of apple cider vinegar in a glass of water with a tbsp of honey. And if I were you, I would go to the doctor and talk to him about this. I don’t mean to scare you, but when I was in my 30’s I had heart burn and acid reflux all the time. I had a massive heart attack when I was 37. And my doctors told me that heart burn is a warning sign. So just to be on the safe side,, why don’t you make an appt to go see your doctor and ask him about this. It won’t hurt and could very well save your life. Don’t take any chances. Please go get checked out. My prayers will be with you. I hope this helped.

Q: Gallbladder Problems or something else? How do I counteract too much calcium in my diet?? Magnesium?
I have been experiencing gallstone like symptoms for 1.5 yrs now. I thought I was going to die the first time I had one. Immediately, the 1st thing the doctors wanted to do when I had pain in my midsection was call it acid-reflux and gave me antacid. When that didn’t work, they quickly switched to gallstones and said I had to have it removed immediately before it damaged my pancreas. They said to avoid fatty foods in the meantime. While I am thinking it over I ran into many MANY people who had problems/pain/cancer in less than 5 years after the operation, so I held off and tried to change my diet – with much success! With I still can’t eat non-fatty foods like lettuce, nuts, skin of an apple, etc…..I can easily digest items like cheese pizza, ice cream, and cheese quesedillas. It doesn’t make any sense. Personally, I think the food industry putting CALCIUM in our food is causing so many people to have this problem (I’m 30 and male). How does one counteract too much calcium??

A: Just go have your gallbladder removed it is the best thing i ever had done and the easiest surgery i had done. i felt sooo much better. you need to stay off caffeine, did they warn you about that? you might also have gone into pancreatitis. go have your blood sugar tested. take care of yourself.

Q: I am pregnant with twins and have heartburn that doesn’t respond to anything…help?
I am 4 months pregnant with twins and I have heartburn/indigestion/acid reflux that I can’t seem to get under control.

Tums, Zantac and Tagamet seem to make it worse. I have tried enzymes with food and chewable enzymes after food. I have modified my diet to avoid all foods indicated in heartburn. I have tried acupuncture. The only thing that slightly helps are ginger chews. But, doesn’t completely help.

I have lost 5 pounds since I got pregnant and I know I am supposed to gain more weight early on because I am having twins. And I can’t even imagine how I could get 3500 calories in per day.

HELP! Any advice would be welcome.

A: I had such painful heartburn with both my sons. My doctor prescribed Nexium- and it worked wonders!!

In a pinch a squeeze of yellow mustard helped, but only temporarily!

Hang in there! I promise when this is over you won’t remember how awful you feel right now!

Q: Nausea, Throat tightening?
Recently have been experiencing nausea & throat tightening.

For the past year have had GERD/Acid reflux symptoms

Have taken proper precautions (avoided fatty, acidic foods, tight clothing, raised bed – everything suggested)

Im currently taking 20mg Pantoprazole and 10mg Metaclopromide (occasionally for nausea)

Can anyone suggest anything this could be as I don’t have a clear diagnosis that this is actually GERD.

Ive had so many different symptoms, that seem to come and go. I was fine for a few months and now all of a sudden the nausea has come back. Im not pregnant. It seems to happen in the evening, im generally ok in the daytime. Im trying to avoid taking my anti-emetic medication as this makes me very tired & have a 4yr to run around.

Im awaiting an endoscopy. Im just kind of at the end of my tether. Because Ive had this problem for a while, ive cut so much out of my diet and had to put so much of my life on hold because ive felt so ill at times. Suggestions?

A: Hi, there. Your symptoms certainly fit into the GERD pattern. I was taking Prevacid and found it to be much more effective than Nexium. The previous poster had an awesome answer about drinking the apple cider vinegar. It does work! If drinking that makes your nausea worse, try adding 4-6 tblsp of Aloe Vera Juice to the blend. I drink aloe vera juice daily and never have any symptoms. I don’t even have to watch my diet anymore!! It is also possible that you have a food allergy. You will probably have to go to an Integrative MD or a Naturopath to get food allergy tests done. I will warn you in advance that an endoscopy does not always show signs of GERD, even in people who have severe symptoms. When my GERD was its worst, I was vomiting at least six times a day and had unbearable acid pain in my stomach. My endoscopy looked gorgeous and clear. (LOL … I know because I woke up in the middle of it and got to watch the rest! uggghhh!!) My Integrative MD said that endoscopies rarely show anything but the most severe damage. I just want to warn you about that in advance because I KNOW how frustrating it can be to be unable to function but have tests come back perfectly normal.

So … start drinking the water with apple cider vinegar and start drinking a glass of water with aloe vera juice mixed in frequently throughout the day. The aloe vera juice will not only reduce the acid levels in the stomach, but will actually soothe and help heal any damage done by the GERD. I have also found that taking an Essential Enzyme supplement before every meal and/or taking a combined Papain/Bromelain supplement helps. If nothing else, my doctor gave me permission to take Gavascon Extra (the kind that states on the box it’s ok to take with GERD meds). It works well, although I haven’t had to take it in months. I KNOW how miserable you are. Please hang in there and know that there is a cure. I wish you the best of luck!

Q: Stomach Problems PLEASE help me! If you are a doctor or you know help.?
Okay so for few months now I been having a bunch of stomach problems….
Bloating
Soar throat
pressure on my chest
chest pain
I feel shortness of breath
I feel my stomach is heavy
heartburn
I feel a little better after a bowl movement
cough… (few times a day)
sometimes when I feel like i am about to burp and I don’t… it makes the pressure on my chest worse.
I feel hungry even when I am done eating, even though my stomach feels kind of full.
My doctor thought it can be acid reflux and he gave me acid reducer few weeks ago; It did no good.
I did feel acid come up like twice before.
I eat a healthy diet. A lot of fruits, vegetables, and organic foods.
I try to avoid white bread, chocolates… and junk food.
I don’t know why this is happening. I don’t feel comfortable at all.

I am 127 pounds, 5,6 tall, female, 18 years old.
Help me please.

A: A lot of your symptoms does sound like GERD, You said that the doctor prescribed you some acid reducers and that it didn’t work. Has he tried more than one? If not, it’s possible he hasn’t been able to find the right one for you yet. I had to try several before I got the right one. Plus, I have to take my twice daily in order to control my GERD. Also, try elevating the headboard of your bed when you sleep by about 4 inches, that helps to keep the foods from coming back up in the throat as you sleep.

You say you eat a healthy diet with a lot of fruits and vegetables and eat a lot of organics. I have found that there are a lot of fruits and vegetables that cause my symptoms to worsen. You might want to keep a food diary to see what happens when you eat certain foods. I love, apples and oranges, but if I eat even just one, I have so much pain and pressure that it’s unreal. I have had to totally give them up. Plus, if you drink a lot of caffeinated beverages, or sodas too, those all also play a major role in the discomfort.

Even though I have found a medication that works for me, there are still times when the symptoms get worse. On those days, I will take Maalox Max chewable tablets over the counter. I also take gas pills as I need them to help relieve the pressure and bloating.

I would go back to the Gastoenterologist and see if there is anything else that they can do to help you. You didn’t say if your have ever had an EGD. The scope down the throat into the stomach and small intestine. I also had to have an Endoscopic camera planted into my stomach, it records what happens as it passes through the digestive system. Then it passes through the system entirely. After I had that and went back for my followup with the Gastro doctor, that’s when they determined that I needed to take my mediciations twice daily instead of the usually prescribed once daily.

I hope this information has helped you. I certainly hope that you get feeling better soon. Best wishes for a speedy recovery.

Q: How much does health cost?
I have had pain that “legal drugs” never helped with – at that time I had become disenchanted with how they wouldn’t give me the drugs to numb me, and what I was getting wasn’t enough to take the pain away. So… I dumped what I had left of the “legal drugs” into my trustworthy toilet and flushed them away, and embarked on serious detox, to rid my body of whatever was hurting it (and hopefully the toxins causing my pain would flush away – if possible – or at least putting my body at it’s optimum to heal me). It was promising from the beginning, I did the “lemonade diet” for 30 days and was impressed on the 5th day how my pain lessened considerably. Through the year I did 2 more 30 day detox “lemonade diet” (restricted diets/fasts) and cured myself of my FMS and an extra bonus was getting rid of my acid reflux. During this whole time I ate organic foods and living foods (foods activated into growing <- I ate those like crazy, my body wanted it sooo badly - craving heathy foods?? I was impressed). Now I still get into these healthy food fits and buy up a whole lot of organic veggies (usually the cheaper ones in harvest or on sale - whatever they may be), and cut them into small chunks, barely steam them, if at all and toss in some virgin olive oil and lemon and herbs (FYI: anything cooked over 105 degrees kills the food enzymes that cure you), and I can't stop myself from gobbling it up through out the day. My depression also left me as soon as I stopped eating processed food that was processed. One way to see it is like this: IF you go to the STORE and see STORED FOOD ("store" being the operative word here), AVOID IT! Eat fresh, stay alive!

Try to eat healthy (avoid those “healthy foods” that are stored in the store !! Again, “store” = “stored food”). AVOID foods in plastic wraps (unless kept frozen from the factory) – especially bread, they are INFESTED with mold, probably the biggest precursor to our health problems as it disengages our immune system immediately)

Don’t wait for someone else to do it for you, think and eat for yourself, certainly you have a vested interested in your health and being at your optimal !!

A: way to go!

Q: Where can I find bland food diets for acid reflux?
I need names of good recipes or websites where I can find easy stuff to make bland meals for myself for my acid reflux problem.

A: I have acid reflux too and I don’t follow a bland diet. I just avoid certain foods that will cause flares. Like chocolate, tomatoes, spices, coffee and tea unless decaffeinated. Also watch for fruit juices which contain a lot of acid. Other than those things you should be able to eat most anything. Also it is important to take over the counter medications daily like Pepcid , Tums and/or Prilosec these will help immensly and you may be able to eat some of the bad foods if you take them.

Q: What are the types of food or recipes that a person with Ulcers should eat?
Recently diagnosed with two duodenal bleeding ulcers & acid reflux disease. I hate to diet of any kind and I’m a bad patient. I probably won’t do anything to adjust my diet, but I do want to know my options.

A: Forget diets. The most probable cause of ulcers is an infection of the bacterium Helicobacter pylori or pyloridi. This pest can be cleaned out with a cocktail of three drugs, which takes about a week to clean the infection out. Metranidazole (flagyl), tetracycline, and peptobismol. (i.e.a.k.a. bismouth subsalicylate). Biaxin can be substituted for flagyl and the tetracycline. Get everyone who lives with you treated so you do not ping pong the infection among you.
Forget bacterial tests the bug very often does not show on tests including biopsie. (there’s one test that measures stomache amonia levels that works better than the others. But try the treatment; it takes little time and it works.
Good luck,
Doc. Dan.

Q: Mechanically altered diet.?
My elderly mother has problems due to severe acid reflux. She also had 2/3 of her stomach removed because of cancer. To complicate matters further she has lost a lot of weight. She is on a mechanically altered diet. I just wondered what is the best way to get her to gain weight? Do any take out places cater to this diet? Does anyone have recipes or links that can help out?

A: You really need to go back to the doctor and ask for a nutritionist to help you with this one. Her cancer and acid reflux is highly important and you need a specialist and not just a John or Jane Doe telling you wrong answers.

Q: If I can’t eat the following foods, what CAN I eat and still get a balanced diet?
PLEASE help me. There are so many foods I can’t eat that I don’t know what to eat anymore. (I have IBS and Acid Reflux and I’m already on medicine for it which isn’t doing much).

Here’s what I can’t eat:
Dairy, including butter (the biggest part of my diet that I miss)
Anything remotely spicy (including pepper)
Vinegar
Garlic
Onion
Citrus Fruits (including tomatoes)
Anything Fatty (Meats, nuts, fried foods etc…)
Chocolate
Coffee (even decaf)

Here’s what I have been eating:
Chicken Soup
Turkey Sandwiches
Crackers and Goldfish (plain and pretzel)
Grilled Chicken (SO SICK OF THIS!!)
Eggs
Rice
Bread (usually white b/c i think it’s easier to digest)

Please tell me what else/how much of other things I should eat and give me any recipes if you can. I’m worried I have a very poor and unbalanced diet b/c of my stomach problems.

If you have anything I can make with beans/soy/vegetable protein, or alternatives to plain grilled chicken please let me know!!

Thank you so so so much!

A: black beans/rice

Q: please read and give me combination ideas???
my parents are both following a strict diet that relieves heartburn, gas, belching, cramps, headaches, acid reflux etc. the problem is that it’s hard to prepare meals for them because of the ways you can and can’t combine your foods.

such as the following:

don’t combine fruit with any other food
don’t combine protein with starches
don’t combine bread with protein [better yet eliminate all bread and whole wheats]
drink only pure water with meals
and also cut back on all dairy products

does anyone have any ideas on what recipes i can fix and what i can serve as a side dish? i’ve been fixing a lot of salads so if you can come up with any ideas on how to ‘tweak’ them to add some variety that would be good too. i’ll give the person who can come up with the most combinations and who spends the most time trying to help ten points… so bring on some answers :]

A: Why not a chicken breast or pork chop or a filet or a piece of fish with green beans or broccoli for a side. Or maybe asparagus for a side. If it’s fresh and in season, that’s a GREAT green side dish. It’s simple, but I think that follows the guidelines (I hope I wasn’t missing one). And it’s not a salad, which I’m sure they’d be happy to be away from for the evening!

Good luck!

Q: Complicated Pesco-Vegetarian?
Ok heres the deal. My husband and I want to become Pesco-vegetarians. Second, I have a really screwed up stomach, colon. I have corosion in my stomach lining from Acid Reflux. (I take prilosec twice daily) I have gas and have had constipation ALL my life. I am allergic to Leeks and I think I am allergic to Scallions (not confirmed). How do I start this type of Vegetarianism and is there a great website where i can get some free help? Also, I have kids who are picky. I need recipes that they will like. I am not much of a cook so they need to be fairly easy.
I can’t go to the doctor though because I have no insurance. (like so many other ppl)
And I have Fibromyalgia. I am hoping this type of diet will help with it.
I don’t see a doctor right now because I don’t have insurance OR money.

A: There is no such thing as a vegetarian that eats fish. Regardless of that, a vegetarian diet includes whole grains, fruits, veggies, legumes etc. I suggest you google recipes that are good for Acid reflux and adjust them accordingly to be vegetarian.

From what I read, whole grains and veggies are pretty safe and in that case, there are tons of possibilities.

Q: I have a recipe question?
I’m making dinner for my mom for her birthday. I’m planning on making Stuffed Chicken. I found a great recipe for stuffed chicken but I feel that the recipe needs more. Here are the ingredients for the recipe:

1/2 cup onion, chopped
1 cup loosely packed spinach, chopped
3 cloves garlic, minced
2 tbsp. gluten free breadcrumbs
4 boneless skinless chicken breasts
4 tbsp. fresh basil, finely minced
1 tbsp. extra virgin olive oil

I’m trying to figure out what else I can add to the recipe. What other things would taste good in this recipe?

My mom and I both cannot eat cheese and I can’t eat tomatoes because their too acidic (I have acid reflux) plus I’m on a gluten free diet.

I’m planning on serving this recipe over a bed of rice and maybe broccoli and/or carrots on the side.

A: Definitely salt and pepper.
What about some artichoke hearts?

Q: Healthy recipe ideas? No tomato, hot spice or citrus.?
I have a problem with my oesophagus and get really bad reflux if I eat foods that cause extra stomach acid production.
I am also on a diet and need some healthy, low fat, foods to eat.
Thank you all so much for your suggestions so far. They are great.
But I guess i didn’t explain myself very well. I’m looking for any recipes you may have that are kind of alternatives to the norm. For example I make a great replacement for tomato sauce (for pasta), and I make it exactly the same but with a jar of roasted peppers instead.
Thank you anyway, especially for the websites, they are great.

A: Well, there’s always beans and rice and you can use any low fat meat you like…….shrimp, chicken. Beans are very high in protein, and rice is high in carbs, but they’re both very very good for you, it’ll fill you up and it’s low in fat. You just season to what your body can handle, and of course with what you like. Good luck!!!

Q: i need a diet plan im 11 have acid reflux and im boreder line diabetic!?

A: If you know right weight loss info and way, weight loss is easy. If you are serious, you need to have easy weight loss way that works for you. I recommend you my weight loss way for you. I lost 12 pounds in 3 weeks and it was very easy. You can do it too. You can find more info from link below.

Q: I need a diet and exercise plan.?
I am 12, and weigh 150lbs and I am 5′3. I need to loose 50 lbs in two months. Can someone give me a diet and excerise plan?

Health Issues-Acid Reflux
Why I want to- I am sick of people making fun of me.
I dont have a Wii or anything. My family cant afford it.

A: No need to count calories or do anything too drastic. But do everything common sense. Completely stop eating any fast food or junk food. Only eat lean meats like fish, chicken, and leaner beef, and eat a whole lot more fruits and vegetables. Do not drink soda AT ALL. Drink only water. Don’t even drink fruit juices unless it’s something healthy like real orange juice (not hawaiian punch). Really simple! So no mcdonalds, no fries, no chips, no candy, etc. You already know what kinds of foods are bad for you, just don’t eat them! If your parents have those in the house, tell them to GET RID of them! Your parents shouldn’t be eating that stuff either!

Don’t over-eat but do not under-eat either. You should not ever be too hungry or starving. Always eat the correct amount of food.

You can’t lose 50 lbs in 2 months. If you do you will get very sick, possibly need to go to the hospital. But if you do this you will lose a lot before school starts. Enough that the other kids will notice.

You don’t need a wii, just do jump rope or something. and don’t overdo it. If you really want a video game, try to find an original PS1 (playstation1) from gamestop (should only be about $20) and try to find on ebay or gamestop a dance dance revolution gamepad and game. Those should also be sorta cheap. The whole setup might cost around $60, if your parents are willing to do that.

Q: What do I do about acid reflux?
I’m 17, and I went to the doctor yesterday about my throat. My throat has been bothering me these past couple of months and he found that I have acid reflux in my throat. He said a major part to it is that I’ve had A LOT of stress lately. I’ve been stressed out A LOT about a girl mainly, and what do you recommend I should do for my throat? The doctor is putting me on a diet plan, cut back on fatty foods, cut back on pop, cut back on acidic foods, and I can’t snack all the time like I do, and I have to watch what I eat. What do you think?

A: good really good your doctor is looking at your diet
you should study nutrition and apply it
drink plenty of water 1-2 litres a day to start with

Magnesium

Magnesium is a mineral needed by every cell of your body. About half of your body’s magnesium stores are found inside cells of body tissues and organs, and half are combined with calcium and phosphorus in bone. Only 1 percent of the magnesium in your body is found in blood. Your body works very hard to keep blood levels of magnesium constant

According to the U.S. National Academy of Sciences (1977) there have been more than 50 studies, in nine countries, that have indicated an inverse relationship between water hardness and mortality from cardiovascular disease. That is, people who drink water that is deficient in magnesium and calcium generally appear more susceptible to this disease. The U.S. National Academy of Sciences has estimated that a nation-wide initiative to add calcium and magnesium to soft water might reduce the annual cardiovascular death rate by 150,000 in the United States, ”

. However, the literature indicates that deficiencies may exist in both third world and industrialized nations and may influence cardiac and vascular diseases, diabetes, bone deterioration, renal failure, hypothyroidism, and stress. Because Mg in certain forms is not easily absorbed and no classical symptoms exist, the problem of Mg deficiency is readily masked, especially in high risk groups such as diabetics, alcoholics, those taking hypertension medication, and some athletes. The current Recommended Daily Allowance (RDA) for the US is 6 mg/Kg/day, which translates to 420 mg for a 70 Kg man. The estimated intake in the US is 300 mg/day. Studies show that as much as 3 times this amount may be needed by the general population and especially by those predisposed to cardiac disease states. This report summarizes recent research on Mg in human diets and the results of Mg deficiencies.

Many diseases are related to magnesium deficiency, and may be prevented or treated with magnesium-rich water:
Aggressive Behavior Alcoholism Amytrophic Lateral Sclerosis Arrhythmia Asthma Cancer Cerebral Palsy
Cerebrovascular Chronic Fatigue Cluster Headaches Constipation Diabetes Fibromyalgia
Fluoride Toxicity Head Injuries Heart-Related Conditions HIV Hypertension Kidney Stones
Migraine Multiple Sclerosis Osteoporosis Pregnancy-related problems Premenstrual Syndrome
Psychiatric Disorders Rheumatoid Arthritis Sickle Cell Disease Sports-related problems Stress
Toxic Shock

To meet the new RDA’s for Mg established Sept. 1999 by the NAS 275 , reduce disease, and prevent violence, it is proposed that juvenile delinquents and inmates be switched to naturally magnesium-rich hard-water sources containing at least 100 mg/L or fortify tap-water supplies of corrections facilities to that level with magnesium bi-carbonate (which tastes like good, sweet hard water). If inmates consumed 1.5 liters of Mg-rich water per day, they would be getting 150 mg/day from water, covering the shortfall for all non-pregnant juveniles and inmates.

Some Drugs cause loss of body magnesium:

Why depend on Mg-in-water instead of Mg in food?
There is no established way of fortifying foods with magnesium without adversely affecting texture or flavor. Magnesium in water is 30% more bio-available than Mg in food. The food supply has been steadily becoming
Explanations for the decline of magnesium in the American diet include more food processing, soil-exhaustion the FDA’s destruction of the American mineral water industry in the 1930’s, and the development of softer tap water reservoirs to replace the hard water of streams and wells.
Numerous studies show a relationship between magnesium intake and asthma symptoms and it is suggested that intakes of magnesium in the general population are deficient.
Extensive metabolic balance studies done by the USDA Research Service showed that the ratio of dietary calcium to magnesium that best maintained equilibrium (i.e., output equaling intake) was 2:1 (Hathaway, 1962).
Patents with fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome are often found to be low in Mg. Supplementation with malic acid and magnesium is a common treatment for fibromyalgia.

Tight, painful muscles are a primary factor in fibromyalgia.
Magnesium is needed to release muscle contractions. Without Mg, tensed muscles stay in a contracted state.
Mg supplementation is an established treatment for muscle cramps, as well as an established treatment for fibromyalgia.
Mg is a needed co-factor for vitamin D utilization, meaning that a lack of Mg can cause vitamin D to be unavailable to the body. The result is that a Mg deficit could, in turn, cause vitamin D deficiency symptoms. Magnesium supplementation is sometimes needed to treat rickets that have not been responsive to vitamin D or calcium treatment.

Q: I have really bad GERD. I’m a Vegan, and overweight by 65 lbs. Can someone give me a basic diet plan/fitns?
I’m 5′1 170, 24 year old female. I went into Veganism 2 months ago in order to become a healthier person. I eat at 8am breakfast, 11 am lunch 4:30pm lunch, and 11pm other food if im Hungery. I get Acid reflux heart burn every morning at 730am, and at night 11-12am. I work a lot so don’t excercise much, although my schedule does allow it. I work at 1230pm and get off at night. My diet consists of spinach, onion, garlic, lentils, tofu, potatos, spinach, bread. olive oil, tomatoes, nuts, bananas, apples, quinoa. I don’t really snack on things throughout the day, nor do i drink 8 glasses of water a day. I really want to change my lifestyle, and I’m willing to do anything to treat my disorder. Soo i really need help. And I don’t want to go to the ER everytime I have an episode, I don’t have health coverage and it would make me financially drained. Help!

A: It’s no wonder with all the carbohydrates you are consuming. Vegan CAUSES GERD. Your stomach needs more complex foods (especially proteins).

Q: I need diet plan?
I am 12, 5′3, 150lbs. I would like to loose a lot of weight….30-50lbs, in two months. So, I will looks different when school starts.

Health problems-Acid Reflux
Why-I hate it when people make fun of me.
No medications please….too young, and I don’t wanna depend on them.

Anything that could help me from crying in my pillow at night because of how I look would be good.
I am a girl, if you cannot tell by my avie.

A: Dont cry SoBE. It will be alright.

Eat healthly foods. Try to skip the candy & soda. And fast food is really bad for you.
Dont skip meals. Eat regularly & snack too. Just keep the portions low. And drink a LOT of water.

Two months is not how you should look at it. Its thru hi-school & the rest of your life. Your only 12. You have a lot of growing to do. Help it by eating right & exercising. Turn off the PC & go outside & play.

Q: What kind of diet plan would your recommend?
An African American Woman who suffers from severe high blood pressure, diabetes, high cholesterol , acid reflux, asthma, and anemia . She is 26 years old. Her current weight is 188 lbs. Her height is 5’2. Her measurements are 40” bust, 36”waist, and 30”hips. Her desired weight is 120. Her current BMI is 34.4; but was considering between 18.5 – 22.5 as her desired goal. Her desired measurements are 36” bust, 26” waist, and 36” hips. What would you recommend for her desired weight management goal and measurements? How long would it take and how much would this cost?

A: Alright, I just answered a different answer with this, but it works just the same lol

Okay, your body has a chemical called insulin. It’s released when you eat carbohydrates. What insulin does is it takes the carbs, and fat, and protein, and everything you don’t burn and stores their energy in fat cells. Bread(whole wheat, whole grain, it’s all bulls***), sugar, and starch are the three worst ones. They spike your insulin levels immediately so you really don’t have any time to fight off the effects. Those are called simple carbohydrates. (Simple because the body does hardly any work when breaking them down into useable energy. This means immediate energy and immediate insulin release.) What you can and need to eat are complex carbohydrates. Complex means the body has to work to break them down into useable forms, so energy is released in small portions over a long period of time. This doesn’t spike your insulin. These would include things like vegetables (not potatoes or rice), fruits (not bananas), and oatmeal (Plain. Add splenda if you like it sweet). And p.s. Stay away from dairy. It’s bad for you.

So that’s carbohydrates. The next thing is protein. Your body needs it. A lot of it. So eat it, but when you do, it needs to be lean. No fatty meats like 80/20 ground beef. You need chicken breast.

Lastly is fat. Again, stay away from fatty meats (fast food). You want olive oil. Omega 3’s. Avacado. It’s guacamole time (aren’t you excited???) but no chips! That’s right, no corn either. It’s a starchy carb.

Okay, so now that you have all that, your diet should look like this:

Breakfast: 3/4 cup oatmeal w/ splenda and tablespoon olive oil. Two egg whites.
Coffee/tea/water (no sugar)(No Milk)

Lunch: Salad w/ italian/caesar dressing. Grilled chicken breast. Apple/pear/any berry

Dinner: Fish/Chicken/Protein. Broccoli/zucchini/vegetable.

Dude, losing weight is pretty darn gratifying, and you will lose weight if you eat like this. Drink LOTS of water. Lots. Good luck!

Q: Where can I find good diet plans?
I have acid reflux and I’m lactose intolerent so I’m trying to find stuff I can eat.

A: I suggest talking to a nutritionist.

Q: I had Acid Reflux for 4 months. Now all gone. Should I get a scope?
I’ve only just found out the link between acid reflux and cancer!
Terrified now, as I had chronic reflux in the past for approx 4 months. So I’m planning to get scoped for Barretts. Is this a good or a bad idea??
I had all the classic heartburn, regurgitation, waking up coughing vomit… etc… and then started getting trouble swallowing! That was scary, but I did not go into a doctor, went into the health shop and got some aloe vera. Changed my diet and it seemed to clear up fairly quick. Esophagus felt sore after, but only for like 2 days and not too severe, it soon felt healed again. I just dont wanna get cancer in 20 yrs!!

A: I had that and it lasted for 2 weeks but I know I am healthy as I recently had tests done, I am 51 female- my daughter 28 has the same thing this week and my 1 year old granddaughter has had it for several months and doc gives her infant gaviscon. My old aunt had it all her life and it was a hyetis hernia

Q: Workout plan for flatter stomach. I need to loose about 4-5 pounds in 3 weeks?
I am 16 years old. I weigh 132 lbs and i am 5′3. I’ve been working out with my mom on and off for about a year. I used to cheerlead, so my thighs are pretty big. My stomach is the only thing i wish was littler. My upper abs are tight, but i have a little pudge. I just want to put on a pair of jeans and not have my love handles and stomach hang over a little bit. I have no idea what cardio works best. I’ve been going to the gym a lot and i usually do 30-45 minutes on the elliptical and i lift on other days. I play dance dance revolution alot also. I eat pretty healthy, due to acid reflux disease. I have to watch my diet. I am going to the beach in 3 weeks, and i wanted to know if anyone knew how to lose a little bit of weight, and what to do? I also dont understand the “burn more calories than you eat” thing. When i goto the gym i burn atleast 350, but my diet is around 1300 calories. Can someone please explain to me how many calories do i need to burn to achieve my goal by july 21st?
i also drink alot of water.. i am willing to follow a perfect schedule.. so please e mail me what had worked for you.

A: First, losing 4-5lbs in 3 weeks is tough to do healthily. And if you want to target your abs to get more of an hour glass figure, toss the cardio in the back seat for now, and use that energy instead to rip your stomach muscles. No pain no gain is true. But the “light weights, many reps” thing is a pile of crap. What you want to do is use the incline bench. Use your light weights and hold them close to your chest as you do full sit ups from a 45 degree angle. Do as many as you can. Then…go to that contraption that you can put your lower arms on pads on either side of you and it’s high enough to dangle your lower body. I don’t know the name of this thing, I hope you know what I mean. On this thing, raise your legs to waist level and hold it for 10 secs, rest for 10, and do 10 more. Then take a breather for 5 mins, and then lie on your stomach on a mat, and leaving as much of your torso on the mat as you can, lift yourself up with your arms straight, and arch your back and look at the ceiling. This is a good way to stretch your stomach muscles after working them. Then get up and do it all again.
Chances are the first couple times will have you unable to do it again the next day, but this is because your muscles are building themselves up at the same time they restore the oxygen to your sore muscles.
If there isn’t one of those gadgets at the gym, you can get the same lift effect by lying on your back on a mat, with your hands under your butt, lift your feet six inches off the ground and hold it, a la Officer and a Gentleman style.
Three weeks of this and you’ll be able to bounce a quarter off your sixpack.

As for the diet thing, lots of water is perfect, and NO CARBS. Instead, go for high protein low fat food, and as much fruits and veggies as you can eat, and NO mcdonalds!

Q: 4 months old, reflux, introducing cereal……?
I am looking for parents who have experienced severe acid reflux….my son is on enfamil AR and is ready to start introducing rice cereal to his diet (spoon fed.) He has held his head up steady since two months (as his reflux and colic have made him very strong) and I am wondering if anyone has had any problems with this formula and starting cereal since it has cereal already added to it. Any ideas as I plan out how we are going to try this? (My doc says he will be fine but I would like to exhaust all avenues of information). Has anyone dealt with this? Has constipation been an issue?

A: my son is only a month old and he will be on the Alimentum? formula..he was on the similac isomil but he’s having allergy problems from the milk so i was told to use that…but he also has acid reflux and the dr told me to thicken his milk at 3wks old…i do it once a day so it wont make him constipated but i was also told to elevate his head 30 mins after he eat so it wont come back up…he actually stopped breathing b/c the acid from his stomach came up and he started choking but if he has any issues with constipation try a little karo syrup in his milk and that will help him

Q: I burn a lot of calories and lose weight from exercise AND eat healthy, but still feel very weak and dizzy!?
I eat healthy foods everyday and try to eat enough protein, drink water, eat healthy sugars, and some carbs like whole grain bread and baked potatoes. I’m lactose intolerant and have acid reflux so it helps me keep away from fatty dairy products.
This is my daily diet.
BREAKFAST= Fiber 1+Special K+oatmeal+boiled eggs+cranberry juice+Aloe Vera juice+multi vit.
LUNCH=mostly subway/boston market/sushi/etc
SNACKS= fruit+yogurt+nuts+Special K granola bar..
DINNER=soup+pb / turkey / tuna sandwich+soy protein shake.

I weight 118lbs and I’m 5′5”. According to the BMI that’s borderline underweight but actually it’s healthy for my slim body type. And I’m definitely not anorexic. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong!

Does anyone have an alternative diet plan I can use? Anyone have similar issues and how did you solve it?
I hope I’m not Hypoglycemic. Should I take glucose supplements?
Pay attention
1. I don’t know if my sugar’s low, so I asked if I was hypoglycemic remember?
2. I eat all my vegetables. Where did I say that I don’t? V8? You want some processed veggies with your salt?
3. Yes I have slightly low blood press. but it’s normal for my body type. I drink enough water to pee every hour.
4. I don’t exercise TOO much. 3 x week with diff routines. 1st day cardio, 2nd day rock climbing 3rd day salsa dancing. I don’t break a sweat either.
5. I have eat soy unfortunately because I have lactose issues remember? I can’t eat whey. What’s wrong with you?
6. I do take One a Day. I do yoga & meditation every week. I am sleep deprived though.
7. You with the long ass letter, sound crazy in the head. I know where you’re coming from but come on how can you avoid processed foods all together? And no I’m not anorexic remember? I’m exercising and eating healthy to avoid as much diseases in the future. And yes everything is going to kill you, you can’t run from death

A: Well, your daily diet has ZERO vegetables. The multi vitamin isn’t making up for that.

If you hate vegetables, try to add in some V8 or something.

Q: Low Blood Pressure etc etc…..?
Hi

I went for a diabeties test today. I have to go back again tomorrow though as it showed a reading of 6.3 and it should be under 6 if your normal. But I had eaten an hour and a half before….no one told me I was not meant to…

Anyway, it seems I have low blood presure, they have said its nothing to worry about though, but it explains why I am feeling dizzy all the time and sometimes a bit unsteady on my feet.

I just wondered if anyone had any decent diet plans or a list of foods I can and cant eat as its driving me nuts!!! I also now have acid reflux and a fatty liver….which sometimes aches.

I just need a guide, I cant afford to see a dietician! Someone help me as I am going mad and I am annoying everyone around me as I am having panic attacks to……………..Can anything else happen….

Thank you
Sue

A: Step 1. Drink more water (any liquid or food intake increases your BP; the more water you drink, the less likely is heartburn).
Step 2. You probably have the peracidity, which is high level acidity in your stomach. This means, you should AVOID SOUR foods and drink! Don’t eat lemon, cherry, pickled veggies, anything that tastes sour.
Step 3. Liver can’t give you pain – it has no nerves, it’s only gall bladder or any part of stomach may give you aching symptoms.
However, if you have an aching sensation in your right side, it really means that your liver is protesting against:
a)FATTY foods (fried, deep-fried, smeared with lots of butter or spreads, chocolate and creamy cakes, fat fish or meat, etc),
b) SPICED foods (particularly RED PEPPER and CHILI, GINGER and CORIANDER),
c) MUCH foods (try to give your liver easier times – eat less at one meal, though you may eat more often, if you may feel hungry),
d) COLD (liver doesn’t like cold sensations – liver aching goes away if you press to your right side something WARM – not hot! – like woolen scarf, a small pillow, etc)
e) SCARCITY of ferments to dijest the food you’ve eaten (the best is herbal “Liv.52″ to take daily(and it’s not dear!), or if you are in much agony, but cannot do anything, just lie down on your right side, bend your knees a bit towards your stomach, and try to sleep – it helps!).
NO PANIC, please!
Strangely enough, liver reacts on you panicking! It may result in triggering the pain!
So, stay calm, try to eat more healthy foods for you, drink more water, and I believe, things will improve.
Though YOU STILL NEED TO SEE A DOCTOR!!!
All the best, cheers!

A: I have low blood pressure and a problem with my liver.

For low blood pressure you need salt.

For my liver I have to avoid fried foods, red meat, dairy, vanilla, peppermint.

Onion, broccoli and cabbage are good for the liver (sadly cabbage is the most disgusting thing I have ever tried to eat!!)

A: I don’t have an answer for you but I want you to know that you are not alone—I’m 20 and my pms sounds exactly like yours. I have tried everything as well…and nothing helps at all. I’m avoiding the Pill because I have a family history of heart attack and stroke, and I’m getting close to my wits end. I’m going to star your question…hopefully we’ll both get some answers. =)

I hope you get to feeling better!!

EDIT: Just wondering…what do you say to people when you’re feeling super pmsy and they tell you “Wow, you look tired!”? I get that one constantly when I’m hormonal…sometimes it’s hard to restrain myself. lol.

EDIT2: I’m so glad I’m not that only one that gets the tired comments…I feel ya on the draggin around part…one day I felt like a giant bruise and almost fell asleep while I was taking notes in class (bad because the prof. was my academic advisor). Hiding or becoming hermit-like sounds like a nice option for pms time…if only it was attainable..haha. I’m totally not good at relaxing either, which probably makes things worse…I just hate sitting still and doing nothing–love, love, love multitasking, lol.

Question…do you get nausea during pms too? That’s a new one that has been knocking me down.

It is so uncanny how similar we are! =)

If you ever want to vent you can totally e-mail me…my e-mail link is on my profile page.

Q: My five week old baby will not stop “projectile puking.”?
I am breastfeeding exclusively and really plan/want to continue. I can’t think of anything that I am eating (if that is a proven theory) that would be causing this problem. Best I can tell, she is having huge pockets of air in her tummy (even after 30 mins of burping her) and she makes these grunting noises for hours until she finally gets it up and then spits up. …OR….she just starts making a noise like she is going to spit up and then projectile pukes to the point even of “heaving” like an adult would do. She doesnt cry when it happens, so I would assume that it’s not acid reflux like many have suggested. I have tried changing my diet some…but can’t narrow it down. I am thinking of switching to drinking soy milk myself just in case something in regular milk is bothering her. I have tried a number of things that I didnt even list here…and am willing to try pretty much anything.

A: I would say that if she’s getting that much air while bf’ing, she’s probably not latched on well. Either that or you have a really big let-down with your milk and she’s having to gulp a lot to get it down. Either way, it’s fixable, and it’s probably just the air making her spit up. The good news is that once her tummy is empty, she’ll just eat again lol! And breastmilk is really not harmful to puke up, it won’t hurt her like it does an adult, there’s not the acid yet.

I would ask a lactation consultant at the hospital to check the latch, just in case. If you know already that your letdown is great, then you might try alternative nursing positions, in which gravity kind of helps the baby from gulping, like reclining, one lady I know even had to lay on her back and hold the baby up to nurse, her let down was so strong. It was just for a month or two, until the baby got older and better at burping.

She will get better at burping too, as the stomach muscle gets stronger. You would probably like going to a laleche league meeting, not only for help with questions like these, but it’s just nice to be around other women who are committed to breastfeeding, kwim? You could ask your pediatrician, but only if he’s supportive of bf’ing. I’ve heard of several in our area who have used stuff like this to miseducated women and convince them to wean.

Good luck!!

Q: vegeterian acid reflux diet… safe foods?
what is safe to eat? anyone have a list?

i think eating too much meat has been increasing symptoms so i want to go vegetarian for a while.

A: UMM if you dont like it dont answer loser.

Q: What foods should you eliminate from your diet if you have acid reflux disease?
What should you eat and drink?

A: Its often not what you are eating that causes foods reflux, it can just as easily be what you are not eating.

Foods you should try and include more of in your diet to reduce your heartburn are things like fruits and vegetables.

more details can be found here in the resources given below.

Q: Any suggestions for an acid reflux diet please!?
I am trying to loose weight but alot of foods and the moderation are really hard on my stomach with my acid reflux. Even if I take my reflux meds I still don’t know what to eat.

Any suggestions?

A: Targetted weight reduction is quite difficult, some would declare impossible, however the one thing which definitely worked for me is wu-yi tea, it can be viewed in the resource box below, they have a limited number of free trials in stock, it has been featured in Fox News and CNN. I lost thrity pounds, it definitely does produce success!

Good luck!

Q: What kind of foods do you eat when you have acid reflux?
I just found out my acid reflux is triggering my asthma, and have to change my diet. I know what not to eat, but what should I eat?

A: do not eat spicy hot salted food fast food is a disaster all junk food is forbid en eat fresh fruits or vege yogurt helps the to decrease acidity also liquorice and orange peel and mint

Q: What could be reasons for a sudden onslaught of acid reflux lasting about 5 days? With no diet change?
I haven’t eaten anything knew or different and no sudden increase or decrease in the amounts of foods. I have taken a pregnancy test which came back negative, so I’m not sure if it could be pregnancy related or not in case the test was wrong…any advice?

A: who knows? avoid all cow’s milk products & acids. increase your dose of probiotics, drink more water, maintain a healthy BMI, keep a food diary, and see a GI doctor.

Q: What is a good place to find a sample menu or diet for someone with GERD and acid reflux?
The person has been told not to consume:

citrus juices
chocolate
coffee
caffeinated beverages
fried foods.

The person has allergies to seafood and fish, lemons, strawberries, onions, cauliflower, peanuts (prepared a certain way.) Has sensitivities to wheat, yeast, flour, corn, sugar. Is lactose intolerant.

Loves fruits and vegetables and only likes chicken as a meat.

A: http://www.drgourmet.com/gerd/gerdmaincourse.shtml

This is a great website. Lots of great ideas for all different types of food tastes. (ie; vegetarianism, meat lovers, etc…)

Q: I have acid reflux and have other food allergies what should I buy that is healthy?
I have acid reflux disease and also am lactose intollerant and I have a very senitive stomach I get diarreaha if I eat the wrong foods. I dont have insurance to find out what else i’m allergic to so need to watch what I eat. I need advise of what else to eat to get a balanced diet with out breaking my bank account.

A: antiacid

Q: Best diet for IBS and Acid reflux ?
What foods should I eat and not eat? Any vitamins to take ?
I want to try this out before going to the Dr’s. I have diarrhea every day and I take prevacid for my acid reflux.
Any ideas or suggestions would be great !!! THANKS !!

A: I am Winry Christian and I had IBS (irritable bowel syndrome). IBS causes symptoms such as cramping, bloating, diarrhea, abdominal pain, constipation, and gas. I suffered to the extreme of IBS. I experience all these symptoms once a day or a lot of it together. Mine was constipation and gas for two years every single day. Some days diarrhea for three days straight. The constipation and gas was happening every hour.

It was embarrassing, uncomfortable, and stressful. I tried using a colon cleanse product. It solved all my problems without going on a diet. I ate whatever I wanted and didn’t experience any of my symptoms again. I was cured of IBS.

The colon cleanse product I used is 30 day free trial for a full month. Didn’t have to pay for the product or shipping and handling. It was shipped free and the product was free. Kind of relief I needed on IBS and really on cash.

Hope this helps.

Q: Acid Reflux?!?!??!????
im 14 and ive been getting heart burn for a long time and at one point when i was like 10 my esofogus( i dont kno how to spell) got really irratated and when i ate , it hurt. Now im sick and im burping the taste of rotten eggs and i have really bad diarhea. i constantly get heartburn for most things i eat or drink. when i drink apple juice or any type of juice i get it really bad. or maybe if i eat like frozen foods i might get it. now my mom is being really annoying and she just thinks that i need to change my diet but im telling her that i have acid reflux because i know that nobody i kno at my age has heartburn at all. but i get it all the time. so does it sound like a really have acid reflux? and also what things could i do about the heartburn?

A: I’m 18 and I started having acid reflux problems when I was a freshman in high school (14), so at least one other person had it at your age. My best advise would be go to a gastroenteritis which is a doctor that specializes in that type of stuff. He most likely will tell you to get an endoscopy and maybe a colonoscopy to make sure you don’t have ulcers or permanent damage; and he will defiantly ask you to change your diet, at least for a few months. Until you go to the doctor, just take some kind of Anti-Acid before or after a meal and eat light. Don’t eat things that are very acidic or too much food too fast, that also can cause acid reflux. Good luck, I know the pain sucks sometimes!

Q: Acid Reflux Diets – Home Diets To Keep Acid Reflux At Bay?
Just looking for 3-4 easy diet tips to prevent or treat acid reflux naturally. Information websites would also be helpful.

A: 1. Get yourself diets rich in complex carbohydrates (breads, rice and pasta). They fix the excess acid in your stomach and give you an easy feeling.

2. Rid yourself of high-fat foods. These tend to stay in the stomach longer, causing it to produce more acid for digestion.

3. Chew your foods well and don’t rush on eating. 20 minutes for each meal is cool. Extract all the nutrients you can get from your diets.

4. Make sure to keep yourself in a straight position during and after eating, for least 45 minutes.

Q: Diets for people with acid reflux diesase?
My fiance` has just been diagnosed with acid reflux disease and has to change his whole diet. Any suggestions on where I can find information on what he can and can’t eat, such as food lists?

A: I can only speak from personal experience. My boyfriend also has extreme issues with ARD. The only thing that has worked for him is the Atkins diet. Every time he goes on it (of course, he has a hard time staying on it for long) his symptoms disappear. And we’re talking about someone who can’t make it through one night’s sleep without getting up to chew some Tums. Obviously, not official advice, but it’s what has worked for him.

Q: My hubby suffers so bad with his acid reflux. He has lost lots of weight and needs to find out what will help.?
It gets hard for him to eat anymore.I am trying the acid reflux diet now.

A: I can soo help you. One day I woke up and could not swallow at all. After months and months and months 6 to be exact and 40 pounds lighter, 10 different meds, and thousand of doctor bills ……. I was given Nexium. I took about 3 more months for any type of relief. I would have him go to a gastro dr and discuss it.

Also this is very important. I lost my mind going throught this. Well not eating, but jello for 6 months did not help, but then the constant feeling like you were going to choke at any minute and going to die…I started having panic attacks. Then it became mild depression. There is a medical term for it. Something like: Depression and panic attacks brought on by a medical condition. Duh! I am now on Zoloft. I have been panic attack free for 1 year. I am so happy. I am able to eat almost anything and not worry.

I soooo understand how he feels. Please let him know that. You sound like my husband. No one would listen or help. He would lay in bed with me and cry with me. You have to be very very pushy with the doctors. I even went to another one, because the first one just wanted to put me on pills and more pills, but I guess the wrong one.

It is also important to know that this did not just come on. It has been happening for years and years. The top just finally came off. It will take time to heal. I would also suggest that he get a endosopy(misspelled sorry) done. They will put him to sleep and put a tube down his throat to see the damage. Just to make sure he does not have any other problems that Nexium will not fix.

One more thing. We did NOT have insurance. There are alot of programs out there to help. We had a clinic that I went through. It was really cheep and I then got sent to a specialist for hardly anything. Then you will have the endosopy done in the hospital and apply for assistance there too. Astra Zeneca pays for my Nexium. Then I went to the mental health for my Zoloft. I see the that doctor, now every 6 month for $5.00 a visit and my meds are $14 for a 3 months supply through K-Mart. You have to ask and search the internet.

I how that helps. Sorry for so much info. Maybe you can copy and paste this into a word doc and print it out. Be very persistant with everyone. It is a HUGE HUGE deal. He can die, not to scare you, but he can.

Let me know if you need anything else.

Q: What can I eat when on a yeast free and lean meat diet? Acid reflux is bad and meds do not work. I am hoping?
if I go on this diet it will help. Any suggestions?

A: You can always eat fresh fruit and vegetables. However, don’t eat citrus fruits (oranges, grapefruits etc).

Good luck!

Q: What kind of diet should I have with Acid Reflux?
I’m trying to control my reflux with diet only because I really dont want to take meds. They make me feel worse sometimes, stomach wise. How can I change my diet to help me. Or is there anything natural I can do? I did apple cidar vinegar(Organic) and it made it worse?

A: Eat smaller more frequent meals
Avoid fatty, fried, spicy foods; chocolate; mint; onions; garlic; carbonated drinks; caffeine; tomato sauce; alcohol.
Don’t smoke
Loosen belt when eat.
Don’t lie down after eating.
Elevate head of bed by about 6-8″.
Keep a normal weight.
If you are taking certain meds it can make it worse, check with your MD.

Yes, apple cider vinegar makes it worse.

Google: mayo clinic>>diseases>>GERD

Feel better

Q: Acid reflux . . . .?
Has anyone successfully and (so far) permanently treated acid reflux through weight loss and improved diet? I don’t want to be on a pill for the rest of my life.

Also, has anyone ever inhaled stomach acid? What was it like for you? Did you need immediate medical assistance?

A: The answer to your question is absolutely yes, acid reflux can be controlled with an improved diet – like you, I’m not interested in taking “a little purple pill” for the rest of my life and decided to figure out what was causing the problem. Caffeine is highly acidic, however I love coffee and couldn’t imagine giving it up, so I simply reduced the number of cups I was drinking, and switched to a half & half blend (half decaf, half regular). I did not switch to a fat-free diet, however I reduced the amount of fats, meaning I stopped eating high fat cheeses and switched to “reduced fat” cheese, I stopped using oily salad dressings and instead, purchased light salad dressings …etc. Also, I stopped eating at night (which is a good idea anyway). I stopped eating a few of the spicy dishes I used to enjoy, and found that I feel much better. As long as I follow these few guidelines, I am symptom-free, and do not need antacids or any medications.

Q: It’s suggested I feed my lab a low fat low protein diet for acid reflux, any suggestions?
She’s getting into her senior years and I’m not exactly strapped with cash.

A: Recipes for Bland diet ; see link below: easy to cook:

Make sure you get a proper diagnosis from a Vet – As soon as you can afford the visit.

Q: vegeterian acid reflux diet… safe foods?
what is safe to eat? anyone have a list?

i think eating too much meat has been increasing symptoms so i want to go vegetarian for a while.

A: UMM if you dont like it dont answer loser.

Q: does anyone have any meal ideas as i have to eat a low fat diet for acid reflux?
acid or silent reflux needs a low fat diet – no pastries, cakes, chocolates, eggs, white wine or spirits, no cheese, butter,

A: I refuse to buy a cookbook since I found www.meals.com. On the left there is a dropdown menu that says “I am looking for…” and one of the choices is Lower in Fat Recipes. They have 145 easy to make recipes…so you can decide what you’re hungry for!
And also…I found a great thing the other day. 1 banana, little bit of skim milk, 2 packets of equal, 3 ice cubes…throw it in a blender…you have a fat free milk shake. I also tried it with a handful of frozen rasberries (60 calories per serving…make sure you get them WITHOUT High Fructos Corn Syrup!!! This is the fat killer!). When I added rasberries, I put it in the freezer for a few minutes and it was thick…like ice cream!

Q: Is it possible to cure acid reflux without meds?
I have SILENT REFLUX meaning it goes into my throat. But you can’t feel it, and it’s worse than acid reflux(GERD) But i really don’t want to take medicine, is it true you can get rid of it by changing diets, and how you live rather than meds?

A: The main reason for any type of acid reflux is lack of digestive enzymes and low stomach acid. An old remedy still used to help with digestion is apple cider vinegar. Ginger is also another remedy to increase digestion. Heat destroys enzymes so eating a diet higher in raw foods (eg fruits, nuts) is benefical. Chewing more thoroughly is another way to break down food to help with the digestive process. Also, you can increase digestive enzymes in the diet with digestive enzyme supplements. They are made from plants and there are no side effects. These links go into further detail:

Q: It’s suggested I feed my lab a low fat low protein diet for acid reflux, any suggestions?
She’s getting into her senior years and I’m not exactly strapped with cash.

Q: Acid Reflux and diet?
My wife has acid reflux, we are heavily against drugs and big farma… i’m wondering if there is a good resource to find out what to do in order to change the diet to not have acid reflux. We are vegan which i’m reading is that meat is a big cause of it, but i’m wondering what else we can do… would just eating more veggies help? it is suppose to neutralize acid, so i would assume eating more veggies would work. Any help would be great.

A: Cut out the caffiene. I’m also vegan and have suffered from acid reflux/heartburn for years. Just recently I cut out all caffiene (coffee, tea, soda, energy drinks) and I feel amazing. Not only is my acidic upset stomach gone, but I also have a lot more natural energy and a better overall sense of well being. I’d also beware of acidic foods like tomatoes, onions, and garlic. Adding probiotics to your diet can also help with digestion issues. I suggest GoodBelly. Good luck and I hope your wife feels better pronto!

Q: Does drinking diet coke cause acid reflux?
Okay, been on a diet to help my acid reflux disease, and have lost 40 pounds, and it has helped immensly. I have however, started drinking around 3 diet cokes a day, and the last two nights, my symptoms have returned, to where it wakes me up at night and I can’t sleep.

A: It can the phenalalinine (I apolagize for spelling) does cause acid reflux and it can cause ulcers (holes in your stomach)

Foods you should try and include more of in your diet to reduce your heartburn are things like fruits and vegetables.

more details can be found here in the resources given below.

Q: What CAN I eat while on an acid reflux diet? I know what I shouldn’t eat to control reflux, but what CAN I eat?
I’d like to eat pasta, but I can’t have pasta sauce with it, so what can I put on it that isn’t fattening or acidic? I like rice, but I can’t use anything spicy on it. I’ve been eating chicken a lot, but it’s getting boring, especially because I’m so limited with what I can eat on it. I need some ideas, please, on what I can eat since I’m going to be on this low-fat, no grease, no tomato-based products diet for a while. I’m also having a hard time saying no to cola and coffee in the morning since I need something to get me going- any ideas? Thanks!

A: My dear friend has acid reflux. This is the website I use when cooking for her. There are a LOT of good recipes here.

http://heartburn.about.com/od/heartburnfreerecipes/HeartburnFree_Recipes_For_the_Acid_Reflux_Diet.htm

Q: Diet Pepsi and Acid Reflux?
Does Diet Pepsis cause acid reflux?

A: No more so than any other carbonated drink. Cut down on the amount of soda you consume and you’ll feel better. It could also be the aspartame that you’re sensitive to. Either way, stop drinking so much soda. Stick to water, or iced tea.

ETA: please. The phosphoric acid in colas won’t hurt you, or the FDA wouldn’t allow it. It’s the carbonation that’s causing your reflux.

Q: Do you believe I got rid of Acid Reflux by adding yogurt to my diet everyday?
I promise, I use to have to buy a pack of medicine once every two weeks just to live, now…I can eat anything, as hot as I want and I am good. Is there scientific backing for this? Anyone?

A: Yes, I believe it. The yogurt contains probiotics that can ‘cure’ an imbalance of microflora in your gut (called Dysbiosis), which could have been the cause of your reflux.

Q: Can it be an ulcer or GERD? I get really BAD heartburn and indigestion and it will last for days at a time?
Then I will not have any symptoms for weeks or months, and then it starts again. Also with the really bad hearturn my saliva really starts to fill my mouth to where I almost drool Yuk I know. I also get really tired. What could it be?

A: it is definitely gerd, might also be an ulcer, and both are obviously triggered by diet or stress levels or both combining. See a doctor and get treatment, either one can have serious consequences down the road.

Q: bad pregnancy symptoms then gone?
hi everyone-

I guess i am like 6 weeks and 3 days pregnant. i had all the symptoms, i mean nasuea, vommitting, heartburn, indigestion, sore boobs, tired!!!!, and emotional.
I woke up this morning with cramps (like period cramps), and my symptoms aren’t as bad. the heartburn stopped about 2 days ago. and my boobs are really sore anymore. and no nasuea for like 4 days? is this just lucky to not have the symptoms, or is it a sign i’m gona have a miscarriage?

thanks
i’m really grochy too!!! and emotional crying alot! and then this mornng i woke up in a good mood?! and was perky and ready to get out of bed, when for the past week or two i couldn’t drag myself out of bed at all!

A: It’s normal for your symptoms to go away…and they may even come back. I don’t think it’s signs of a miscarrage. If the cramps get severe or you start bleeding then get checked but symptoms going away are normal.

Q: have u ever had heartburn so bad that u considered going to the hospital? could this b symptoms of preeclamsia
i’m 26 weeks pregnant by the way. i read that preeclamsia signs can be severe upper abdominal pain. i plan on calling the doc tomorrow since this has happened 3 times in the last couple of weeks

A: I had heartburn so bad with my son (he;s 12 now) I thought I was going to die! It burned up in my throat so bad,,,I remember not being able to swallow or sleep!!!
I would call the doctor just to make sure but try and relax..

God Bless you and Good Luck!!!

Q: What bad pregnancy symptoms are you having?
Im having: 24 hour heartburn, Breasts leaking colostrum, lack of sleep at night, Gestational diabetes, stretch marks, strong braxton hicks especially if I walk too much, missy kicking me in my side and causing discomfort, not being able to sit comfortably due to her bum poking my ribs, spotty skin the list is endless…what are you guys suffering? You have my utmost sympathy!!!!!
Im 30 weeks on Sunday.
Come on girls lets have a good old whinge!!!!

Despite all this I actually love being pregnant!!!

A: oooooo now let me see im also nearly 30 weeks (monday) all started with severe morning sickness which lasted until 16 weeks which i had to get medication for , then migraines 24/7 (again more pills!) , constant heartburn, anemic, hospitalized a few weeks ago due to severe dehydration and sickness, stretchmarks making me miserable, and now sore ribs which have started the past few days
just think hun we are almost on the home stretch! nearly there

Q: Help with these symptoms…..started heartburn then sore throat and then coughing now…….?
Okay this all started last Monday (a week ago today). I ate lunch and within an hour I had terribly bad heartburn. I have been diagnosed with Acid Reflux (GE-RD) but that was 8 or 9 years ago and have had no problems in 5 years. Anyway, heartburn first then about 30 minutes of that my throat started burning so bad that I thought the heartburn had caused it (maybe acid burn my throat). The sore throat or burning went on for all that evening, the next day and finally by Wednesday after lunch it had subsided but I started coughing and feeling like I was getting a chest cold. After a day or so of that it all went in my nose, ears and throat. I’m coughing, runny nose, but now for the super weird thing……..I have started breaking out all over my face, my neck, chest and even in my hair. The rash is mostly small bumps but in a few places they are more like pimples. I have never had a problem with pimples…if I did it was one or two and that was during that time of the month. I know all this is a lot of information but I went to the doctor’s office today and couldn’t even get a parking place(it’s a walk in type thing) I left there and went to a different place (Med now) and they were also packed) I just don’t have the energy to sit there for 4-5 hours. Oh, that’s something else……I feel so BAD! Energy level is very low and my head feels so heavy. My ears keep stopping up and I have difficulty breathing (like congestion only in my throat) Last night I tried to eat a rice and chicken casserole i had made and it was like every time I tried to swallow, the food felt as though it was swelling in my throat. So please if you have any clue as to what this may be….answer……besides the obvious of go to the doctor. Thanks…….

A: You need to get in real fast to a gastroenterologist (sp) and get a diagnosis.. That doesn’t sound good. I have that problem and I take generic prilosec (Omeprozole) …If I didn’t take that, I would be in the same boat as you… Reflux will make your throat sore and make you cough. Etc… It could be that you have acid reflux and caught a cold on top of that (which will sap your energy) and give you all those symptoms…

Q: What are the symptoms of a gallbladder going bad?
I have been having problems since at least February and am wondering if it couldbe my gallbladder. I end up having severe pain right under my sternum that shoots through to my back. It seems to vary with what I have eaten or drunk through the day…and mostly happens at night, but has happened during the day. I also have horrible heartburn, feels like some one is sitting on my chest and feel like I could vomit at any moment….any ideas as to what could be going on?

A: gall bladder symptoms:

The symptoms of most types of gallbladder disorders are similar. Pain is usually intense and sudden, starting in the upper right abdomen and radiating to the right shoulder blade. The pain may come and go, and onset is often after a rich meal. Other symptoms include nausea and vomiting, fever and chills, and jaundice. See your healthcare provider if you have sharp persistent pain in the abdomen. He or she must rule out other causes that need immediate treatment. For example, the appendix is also on the right side of the abdomen. It is lower than the gallbladder.

Ulcer symptoms(H. Plyori)

Abdominal discomfort is the most common symptom. This discomfort usually

    * is a dull, gnawing ache

    * comes and goes for several days or weeks

    * occurs 2 to 3 hours after a meal

    * occurs in the middle of the night (when the stomach is empty)

    * is relieved by eating

    * is relieved by antacid medications

Other symptoms include

    * weight loss

    * poor appetite

    * bloating

    * burping

    * nausea

    * vomiting

Some people experience only very mild symptoms, or none at all.
Emergency Symptoms

If you have any of these symptoms, call your doctor right away:

    * sharp, sudden, persistent stomach pain

    * bloody or black stools

    * bloody vomit or vomit that looks like coffee grounds

They could be signs of a serious problem, such as

    * perforation—when the ulcer burrows through the stomach or duodenal wall

    * bleeding—when acid or the ulcer breaks a blood vessel

    * obstruction—when the ulcer blocks the path of food trying to leave the stomach

Hiatial Hernia

Typical symptoms are heartburn and belching. One may have a burning taste in the mouth. Sometimes spitting up food occurs when the stomach is full. This may be more common at night. There may be a sense of food being stuck on its way down. This symptom may also be a symptom of esophageal cancer and should be evaluated by your healthcare provider.

the reason I put all of these symptoms down is because sometimes you can be misdiagnosed. I was in fall of ‘99 the doctors said my gallbladder was bad. It turned out after several months of pain and testing I had the H. Polyri ulcer. It was horriable. I was never a small woman but in 4 months I lost 45 lbs and went from size 12 to a size 3. You was also was able to see every bone in my body because I have a large frame. My advice is to go to a doctor fast if you are having any of these symptoms.

Q: Can someone tell me the symptoms of stomach ulcers?
I’m 16, stomach ulcers run in the family. For the last 2-3 weeks, I wake up with a horrible stomach ache. It feels like I’m so hungry that I could get sick. After I eat something, it goes away.

I also have really bad heartburn. I have had this since I was very young. I got an upper GI when I was 11, but nothing showed up.

Can someone please tell me what ALL the symptoms are of a stomach ulcer? Thanks.

A: Generally stomach ulcers show positive for heliobacter pylori or can be caused by overuse of NSAID’s such as ibuprofen.

Stomach ulcers can cause a lot of pain and are often aggrevated by highly acidic foods, such as currys, some fruit juices and alcohol, they can also be soothed by milk and eating generally.

If you do think you have a stomach ulcer, avoid medications such as ibuprofen and asprin because they can cause the ulcer to rupture, also if you ever experience coughing up blood or blood in the stool it is most likely from a perferated ulcer

Q: Why do i get heartburn when i have milk/icecream at night?
whenever i have milk/icecream after about 8 or 9 pm i get very bad heartburn my saliva gets so thick sorry TMI but its so uncomfortable why does this happen, i dont have any other symptoms like naseau or stomach pain just heartburn that hurts Never ,ever in the daytime though Why do you think it happens??

A: Hi There,

Fats, protein and calcium present in the milk stimulate acid production in the stomach. Normal diet of milk is fine but don’t take it for treating acid reflux, as is advised by some wise people.Similarly, high fat content in cheese slows down digestion, especially if taken just before going to bed.

Solutions for acid reflux involve making lifestyle changes such as avoiding certain foods, losing weight, and stopping smoking and exercising regularly.

Try to eat 4-5 small meals a day instead of 1-2 large, heavy meals. Do not eat just before going to bed and avoid eating in a hurry. Proper chewing is very important.

In acid reflux, the list of what not to eat is much bigger and specific than what to eat. Certain foods and fluids to avoid are:
• Salad vegetables like onions, radishes and cucumber hard to digest.
• Too much liquid, especially just after the meals, dilutes the digestive juices. Hence, liquids in small quantities should be taken before or during the meals only. A glass of wine on the other hand will aid in digestion.
• Peppermint tea, alcohol and coffee relax the esophagus sphincter thereby aiding in spurring of the backward flow of food from the stomach. Alcohol also causes stomach acidity whereas coffee causes irritation. So, it’s a double whammy for people facing acid reflux.
• Pectin in unripe foods makes them hard to digest whereas high fat content in cheese slows down digestion, especially if taken just before going to bed.
• Fats, protein and calcium present in the milk stimulate acid production in the stomach. Normal diet of milk is fine but don’t take it for treating acid reflux, as is advised by some wise people.
• Chocolate, containing fats and caffeine is also a usual suspect.
• Fizzy drinks expand your stomach having the same effect as that of overeating. Avoid them

Avoid the overuse of over-the-counter medications such as antacids, anti-gas or ant-flatulence drugs, oral suspension and H-2 receptor blockers as they may cause side effects such as constipation and diarrhea.

Try these simple techniques
- Never lie down flat on the bed immediately after the meals.
- Raise the head end of your bed by about 3-4 inches, using bed blocks or bricks. Pillows over pillows won’t help.
- Nicotine increase the amount of gastric acids secreted. It also loosens the valve, i.e., relaxes the sphincter. So, don’t smoke.
- Wear suspenders instead of a belt. This creates less pressure on the stomach.
- Bend on your knees if you are going down. If you bend your stomach, you’ll compress it forcing the acids upwards.
- Try yoga or some form of stress relieving exercises in addition to the herbs mentioned above.

Natural Remedies

Natural and holistic treatments have been used for centuries to treat and provide symptomatic relief for digestive problems. Homeopathic remedies are safe and effective to use for people of all ages without unwanted side effects. Carefully selected ingredients such as Calc phos, Carbo veg, Nat phos, Mag carb and Silicea helps to neutralize acid in the stomach as well as cleanse and eliminate toxins from the body and relieve symptoms of heartburn, indigestion, bloating and gas.

Hope all that helped

Good Luck!

Q: I’ve been having some bad heartburn + unusual dizziness .. ?
For about two months now, I’ve been having this continuous throbbing pain in my chest area which feels a bit like heartburn, but I went to see the doctor & she says there’s nothing wrong at the moment, but I should see a radiologist.
My mom scheduled an appointment for next week because that’s all they had available, but I’ve been feeling really dizzy lately (so bad its hard for me to stand) & im not sure if these two symptoms have anything to do with each other.

If you could please help me that would be really great… thanks
(im 12 years old, btw.)

A: Some of this could be related to growing pains (an example only), but the radiologist might be able to help figure out what could be going on.

Another site that might be able to help you find more information is the symptom checker at: http://www.WebMD.com

Q: How common is it for a twin to hide?
I’m 13 weeks pregnant with my second. I had an ultrasound at 7 weeks to date my pregnancy, and at that point it was the typical smudge, not anything that looked like a baby.

However, a lot of my symptoms this time around are much, much worse, and friends are beginning to wonder. One of them had twins last year and said I have the same kind of level of symptoms (hyperemesis, bad heartburn in the 1st trimester, already showing, etc etc)

Just wondering how common it is for a twin to hide until later on when they’re bigger. I’m not sure for another u/s until my second trimester.

A: i had an ultrasound with my last pregnancy at 16 weeks(first appointment) and was told there was only one baby, 3 weeks later i had another ultrasound(second trimester) at the end of this ultrasound the tech was checking the gender and found the twin.

my symptoms however were not any worse than my other pregnancies. the only things i noticed was a bit more movement than with my singles.

Q: Is heartburn an early pregnancy symptom?
I have been having really bad heartburn for the past week now, I am expecting my period in 6 days… just wondering if heartburn can start this early in pregnancy?

A: I have heard it’s possible! Not sure but I am going through the same thing right now, since 8dpo i have been having horrible heartburn! Its so acidic, i feel a little nauseous when it flares up too! I’m currently at 10dpo and it’s only gotten worse. Hope you feel better and get a positive on a pregnancy test if that is what you want!

Q: BAD heartburn, may be pregnant?
i’m not sure that i am, i was supposed to get period saturday, and i had unprotected sex my last ovulation day. but if i do not get my period by next weekend i will take a test.

however i’ve had AWFUL heartburn. along with many other early pregnancy symptoms. but when i say awful i mean awful.
can ya tell me why i would be?
about the heartburn? not the other symptoms, ha, thanks.
i was just askin if it was like bad to have heartburn? or i don’t know dang. bahah.

A: heartburn can be a symptoms of pregnancy but
you wont get it tell later on in your pregnancy!

Q: what are my causes of long term cold and heartburn?
I have had a heavy cold now for 3 weeks, along with it i have bad heartburn and bad stomache. Although the answers iv had have been helpful but i now feel as though all these symptoms could be related and if so, has anybody else suffered with this? i live in wales and have no pets or allergies that i know of. my flat is clean and tidy i have been there a year and never really get ill with colds and that. Please let me know your suggestions. Cheers guys! x

A: If your cold lasted 3 weeks that is not normal. Please go to the emergency room or schedule a doctors appointment. You need some anti-biotics or other medicine to heal what is wrong because you definitely are sick sweet heart.

Q: is it normal to have on/off symptoms?
i am on b/c. BUT. when we baby danced i was on two different medications. thats was 4 weeks ago now. for the past 2 and half weeks i started getting bad symptoms of heartburn and boob pain. after that i got bloated up like never before. then my appetite went. then it came back but weird. like all i want is fruit smoothies and cold juice. and cheeze itz. ok well starting two days ago my boobs sorness started to go away. it quit hurting. now its jsut twinges of pains going through it throughout the day. but they dont feel as heavy.still swollen though. do you think i got preg.? did you have on and off symptoms? when can i test cuz i bought and took two tests and they were neg. but that was over a week ago. when should i test again? af due in one week. but i dunno if i can wait. i have the first response test waiting.

A: I’m in the exact same situation, and have to wait a week to test too. We have no choice but to wait! Ugh!!

Q: Is it good to drink Ginger Ale with an upset stomach?
I have been having acid reflux symptoms, like bad heartburn and nausea. The doctor told me to avoid anything with citric acid in it, or anything spicy. My 16 yr. old brother told me that people with an upset stomach are recommended to drink Ginger Ale. The third ingredient is citric acid, so I’m not sure if its ok.

A: Ginger ale would not be recommended for acid reflux, because of the citric acid as you said. The reason ginger ale is recommended for upset stomach is because of the ginger(which most commercial ginger ales do not contain)
You can get a ginger tea to drink. Most stores sell it in tea bags (which contain other ingredients also)or if you have any Asian food stores near you, they should have a ginger drink mix that is ginger and sweetener. You just add it to hot water. You can also make your own by peeling some ginger root and steeping it in hot water for about 10 minutes. You can then add some honey, sugar or sugar substitute to sweeten it.
Another ginger option is ginger candies. They come in chews and hard candy. If none are sold in stores near you then you can order them on-line from http://www.gingerpeople.com The site has tons of other real ginger drinks, foods and sauces, as well as more information on the benefits of ginger.
Or you can always get some pickled ginger and just eat a slice when needed. Most supermarkets have it in the Asian food section.

Q: Chronic Heartburn symptoms?
I’m 22 years old, and Ive had heartburn for as long as I can remember. Everytime I would eat sour candy, mexican candy/food, and hot cheetoes as a kid my throat and chest would burn for a little while afterwards. My mom always had it and so I didn’t think much of it. As I’ve gotten older though, the symptoms have become more intense, even though I don’t eat that way anymore. I find that whenever I eat anything it’s always difficult to digest and I feel like all the food I had just eaten is lumped up right where my neck and chest meet. The newest and strangest feeling I’ve been having is a burning/tightness sensation in what feels like my right bronchial tube? It feels almost like when you spend a day at the pool and later that evening your lungs feel sore from expanding them while holding your breath underwater. I don’t know how else to explain it, and franky I’m not even sure if it has anything to do with acid reflux. I also get sharp pains in my upper back. It’s real depressing!

A: Might be time to get on serious meds for acid reflux. Or an ulcer maybe.

But that sensation of chest pain on the right side and upper back reminds me of my first gall bladder attack….you need to get checked out.

Q: Chronic Heartburn or Ulcer?
I usually don’t make it into the doctor and now is no different but I’m wondering if I should make some time to do so. I have had chronic heartburn on some level for ages…possibly as long as a year. Sometimes it’s barely noticeable but there if I think about it for some reason and other times, it’s top of mind because of how badly the burning sensation is.

If I get the heartburn and drink water, it only gets worse and it also gets worse if I eat acidic foods such as oranges. In fact, either of these things will prolong symptoms and make it nearly unbearable. Milk also does not help as it only seems to temporarily reduce symptoms. By temporarily, I mean less than half a minute. Kind of like pouring water on one’s hand but not taking it out of the the fire.

Is this likely some how related to my more immediate dietary habits or could it be some sort of ulcer? Opinions?

And yes, I will be seeing my doctor about this if I can make some time to do so in the next couple of weeks but in the mean time, I’m wondering what you might think.

A: Its an ulcer alright cos I had all the same symptoms and had to go to hospital. I cant believe you’ve survived a year in this pain, but you need meds. I take Pariet to calm it down. DO NOT drink acidic drinks, booze, don’t eat tomatoes, chilli, or curry try some mylantin but you really need meds. Also eating yogurt brings relief but acid will make it burn. VERY IMPORTANT DO NOT TAKE ANTI INFLAMMATORY DRUGS. They cause ulcers.

Q: Severe and chronic abdominal symptoms? HELP!!?
This is my history of my illness. If ANYBODY can help I would greatly appreciate it!!

When I began my period it was regular but heavy. I was in 7th grade.

In 8th grade it continued and I had frequent infections. In December I had a sinus infection. January strep throat. February viral throat infection. March sinus infection. April viral throat infection. May sinus infection.

In 9th grade I had 1 or 2 sinus infections. My periods became irregular and eventually stopped when I lost weight due to anorexia, depression, and anxiety.

In 10th grade I had complications from my anorexia. I had bradicardia, postural orthostatic tachecardia, low alkaline phosphotase, and 2 other electrolytes. I was in the hospital twice and it saved my life. I devloped insomnia also and was put on many medications, constantly switching.

I’ve been on zofoft, zyprexa, effexor, cymbalta, prostiq, wellbitrin, and revia (for cutting).

Then I developed bulimia. I developed ovarian cysts (4 of them seperatly, one he size of a lemon) and stopped my bulimia because of the pain.

The next year (this year) in 11th grade I developed off and on severe abdominal pain. Every time they found or assumed I had small cysts on my ovaries. Then I developed a severe case of he flu. I was vomiting, had intense stomach pains, fever, headache, fatigue, etc. After that the abdominal symptoms would not go away. I had chronic abdominal pain, nausea, and vomiting along with constipation and diarrhea.

They said I had a bad case of gastroenteritis. I went into the hospital for my depression which was torure on top of that. I was diagnosed with PTSD. I then went on Prozac, klonopin, abilify, seroquel, and anaspaz and phenergan to control my symptoms. I also had off and on fevers and continued to have sharp and stabbing pain.

Then they did a colonoscopy and endoscopy to find nothing except I was lactose intollerant. I cut out lactose and still have symptoms. Over that time I lost 40 lbs unintentionally this time. There were days where I couldn’t get a bite in me! So they gave me and ng tube.

I gained 10 lbs in 2 months and they took it out because at that point I had tons of heartburn and vomiting. I tried prilosec, pepcid, prevacid, and something for an ulcer with no relief.

I had a gastric emptying test which shows delayed gastric emptying. I am now on bethanechol and prevacid for that. Currently they think I’m having abdominal intestinal spasms which hurt so bad and they won’t let me take pain meds. I have a moderate fever, left side pain below my bellybutton, severe fatigue and weakness to the point where Im about to colapse.

I don’t know what else to do! I feel miserable!

Oh and I’ve been on yaz, lo ovral, depo provera, and now seasonique for my period, always with a month of breakthrough bleeding.
Recent blood tests, ct scan, ultrasound, and urine were normal besides excess protein.

Recently had strep throat also.

A: I have no idea. But I want you to know that I feel bad for all that you have to go through. My best to you and I hope you get some answers soon. And some relief.

Q: Chronic heartburn and I’m only 18..help :/?
I have reaaally bad heartburn and I’ve had it for two years now. I started getting it after I had a bad case of mono. It started out of nowhere. I also was on the birth control pill for a few months before I started getting the heartburn. I’ve had many tests done including blood tests, ultrasounds, etc. I am only 18 and sometimes it gets so bad even water aggravates it. I have tried extreme diets but I lose a lot of weight and am already skinny to begin with, so that doesn’t work. I’ve tried Zantac, Pepcid, Tums, Pepto Bismol, Nexium, Protonix, and Prevacid 24 hr. Nexium is the only thing that really worked but it made me get bad upset stomach. Everything seems to lose its effectiveness within a few times of using it, and doctors aren’t giving me any answers. Any ideas on what it is? I also have a lot of other physical issues, but this one really bothers me the most. I haven’t been tested for H. Pylori, so that’s a possibility…
I’ve had an upper GI that came back with no abnormalities, and I just had a RUQ ultrasound (gallbladder and liver) and haven’t gotten the results yet. Help much appreciated
Oh, and I’m not looking for medicine to cover up symptoms, although if you can suggest one that works really well that would be helpful. I’m mostly interested in what it could be or how to eradicate it . Thanks

A: Perhaps it is due to too much acidity from meat and other protein foods, fatty foods as well as other foods.

Perhaps an alkaline diet would help to neutralise some of the acidity and this means more fruit and vegetables.

You can see further details in a web search for “alkaline diet”.

Q: Can anyone here tell what this is by these symptoms?
Recently I have been having odd symptoms and I’ve checked WebMD and other sources but cannot pin it down to any one thing. I was wondering if someone might have a clue as to what it is by the following symptoms: Frequent burning in the stomach, heartburn, lower abdominal pain, almost chronic fatigue/borderline exhaustion, neck pains, minor headaches, an “out of it” sensation, slight to elevated nausea that comes and goes, weight loss, and sudden dizziness. Most of these symptoms have been come and go over the course of about two years and I’ve seen shrinks, doctors and have taken meds. But so far, zippo. No one thing seems to work and I’m really getting sick of not knowing what it may be or how to treat it. Does anyone else have symptoms like these and/or know what it is? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

A: I’m far from a doctor, but I have a few suggestions. The nausea is probably a result of the burning in your tummy. The rest of the symptoms sound more like chronic fatigue syndrome or maybe some stress-related disorder.

For the fatigue, try taking Ginseng. Don’t worry, ginseng is not going to make you feel high or anything, but will help give you a mental boost and a little bit of extra energy.

I presume your doc checked for gastro-reflux?? If not, go back and ask them to.

Try changing your diet. Eat more healthy choices, eat smaller meals more often (4-5 small meals every 2-3 hours).

For your neck, try very slow, careful neck rolls, move your head gently to one side, then roll it back, the other side, and front. Do this every 20 minutes especially if you are watching TV or looking at the computer.

I know this may sound odd, but your feet are a map to the rest of your body. It’s possible you have calcium deposits or other knots in your feet. A good long foot massage can help you too. You can find a foot chart to help you figure out where exactly to massage to ease your pain at the following link:

Q: What does my chronic back pain mean?
I am a 13 yr. old female who doesn’t exercise or eat well or eat regularly(I starve my self to get skinnier, I know… its bad). I have been having chronic lower back pain only when breathing deeply (mostly late at later in the day). Also, I have been having sharp chest pain (like someone wrapped something really tightly around my chest). The chest pain is more discomforting than painful, but keeps me up at night. My mom thinks it could be a kidney infection, but I’m not sure.

P.S. I went to the doctor a while ago, he gave me drugs for heartburn (my heartburn went away… and so did my other symptoms). But I have different symptoms. I think they could be lack of vitamins, fiber, and other things. I try to eat well but my mom constantly buys candy and really fattening food that she eats all the time, so its hard to eat well in a house full of that.

A: to be able to determine exactly what your chronic back pain means, you need to see a doctor. they can provide you with exact examinations and diagnosis to treat your chronic back pain properly.

try to avoid activities that can add up or increase pain in the back like carrying or lifting heavy objects.

to relieve pain try using all natural topical treatments to get soothing pain relief. for more tips in managing pain visit http://www.reliefmd.com

Q: My father is really sick and the doctors don’t know how to diagnose or cure any of his symptoms?
My father has had diabetesand been insulin dependant since he was 17, and he also developed chronic diarrhea and has had it since way before I could remember. Just about four years ago he began to get really sick and had severe recurring stomcah pain and nausea, he almost died several times because he couldn’t eat for months. Doctor tried to say it was heartburn, appendicitis, gastropericus, or just blame it on his diabetes, and they haven’t really helped him except by given him morphene to help with the pain. My father is only 41 and he is about six feet tall, but he only weighs about 90 lbs. He is so sick and my mom is so depressed because we can’t help him. The doctors have done so many tests on him and they always come back negative.

Has anyone ever had some similar symptoms or if diabetes and liver failure really do cause this pain for people? I have known people on dialysis and who had diabetes who were never in this much pain? Please help.
I do appreciate all the help and like I said we have been dealing with this sickness for quite a few years now and have done so much research ourselves, tried different diets, he has had so many surgeries, taking so many drugs and vitamin supplements, and seen so many specialists, but no one has given us any answers that will actually help him. I was just hoping that maybe someone had went through this before or knows something we don’t. Please keep trying though, it really means alot.
Everyone has helped so much, and yoiu guys really did answer from your hearts, so it is too hard to choose a best answer if I could I would give everyone the best answer.

A: I was reading a Men’s health on time, and there was this doctor who dealt with Diabeties the old way, before insultin let u eat whatever u wanted. Has he tried eating less of the bottom of the food chart. More fruits and veggies and proteins less starch. If he tried that, there would be not as much glucose to fill his blood stream and there for he could live more normally.
I am not associated with the medical field, but my mom is an RN who might have more professional terms for what i described, I am also sure that Men’s Health would subscribe u the name of the doctor if u e-mailed them with ur problem. Good Luck and Godspeed.

Q: Smokers Cough, Acid Reflux, Chronic bronchitis?
3 weeks ago I had a persistent cough that was getting worse at night.
Doctor told me to quit smoking and said this is the result of smoking and it is “Smokers Cough” gave me an inhaler and tablets just to ease the process of healing and make it faster.

He said ill be fine in 4-5 days but i was still coughing for 2 weeks but less and less everyday and then i became better so decreased the doze of the inhaler by half and kept using it cause thats what i was told to do the cough was back again but not as bad as before im guessing cause i was still on the inhaler but decreased the doze.
Now that i finished the inhaler and tablets the cough is coming back… im guessing the cough was there the whole time but the inhaler was controlling it, something similar to an asthma patient.

I’ve done some research online, and i think i have
1. Gastroesophageal Reflux (Acid Reflux)
OR
2. Chronic bronchitis

Btw i quit smoking 3 weeks ago and haven’t smoked since not even been in bars or clubs where there is a lot of smoke.

Symptoms: Dry Cough, Mild Heartburn + Nicotine Withdrawal Symptoms.

sorry for all this but i really don’t know who to ask… Doctors are just stupid, they keep testing sh** on you until your about to die and then they figure out what’s wrong.
Gulbadan, ZYBAN is to help quit smoking but i quit 3 weeks ago i don’t think this is what i need! thanx anyway.
ScottG, i only smoked for 3.5 years. 10-15 ciggs/day
thats not heavy smoking.

The inhaler was “Symbicort (160)” 2 puffs in the morning and 2 at night (1st week) 1 Puff in the morning and 1 at night (2nd week).
The tablet was “Telfast (180 mg)” once every day.

And btw im 21, plus i read that COPD is a deadly thing almost no way out, isn’t it?
Isn’t there smth thats in between Smokers cough and COPD? heh
Thanx…

A: Well, first-off … You have C.O.P.D. (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease)! Quiting smoking was a great decision!

Next, the tablets and the inhaler, were just an aide in the healing process. Not sure which inhaler you were given, but sounds like Albuterol (Pro-air). This medication is mostly used for rescue medication, usually prescribed as 2 puffs / inh / q4h PRN … 2 puffs every 4 hours as needed. The tablet prescribed could have been an expectorant known as Guaifenesin or Mucinex.

The average life span of a (RBC) Red Blood Cell is 3 months. This means that the CO (Carbon Monoxide) in your system will remain for at least 3 months. The red blood cell is composed of 2 heme- molecules and 2 globin-molecules. This is why a Red Blood Cell is called hemaglobin. For every RBC there are 4 iron molecules each. Oxygen binds to each iron molecule and this is how the oxygen is transported throughout the body. CO is “greedy” and bind itself to all 4 iron molecules and never lets go until the RBC dies.

3-4 weeks is not attributative to the overall healing. As far as the “nicotine-withdrawals” … the nicotine only stays in your system for about 8 hours. It is not nicotine withdrawal, it is the bodies smoking habit withdrawal … More-so the motions. There are many other factors regarding your progression in healing.

Dry cough = a “sorta good thing” … this means that the expectorant worked good for you. Does not mean that you will not have anymore productive coughs.

Let your body heal itself. Get a refill on your Pro-Air and use it as needed. The GERD could be a result of stress due to cessation and/or the bodies was of ridding itself of the sputum which has been coughed up but then swallowed.

Hope this helped!

FOLLOW-UP:
The amount of time that you have smoked does not make any difference. Symbicort is a drug that I am quite familiar with! I work in Pharmacologic medication researching! Simbicort is provided by Astra Zeneca. It is a combination of budesonide and formoterol. It is usually prescribed for those that have C.O.P.D. but has recently become increasingly used for asthma therapy! The usual dosage is 160/4.5 mcg inh bid (twice daily). If I remember forrectly, it should contain 60 or 120 dose actuations. So I would assume that if you were taking it b.i.d., then you only had the 60 dose actuator! In the research study that we did 3-4 years ago, it was realized that when patients were enrolled into the study with a placebo controlled, double blind randomized, single blind run-in … It was confirmed that Symbicort increased the FEV1 of patients over a 6 month period than taking their single-counterparts together. Budesonide is an anti-inflammatory corticosteriod and Formoterol is a long acting selective beta2-adrenergic agonist. This is more direct regarding respiratory treatment than only the “Pro-Air” I originally had guessed. I guess I gave your symptoms more credit than-credit was due!

The “TelFast” you were given was a decongestant! “Fexofenadine”-generic … also known as Allegra. The debate on your C.O.P.D. diagnosis is still remains sure. Why your doctor gave you a corticosteroid and a long acting B2-agonist and a allergic decongestant, sort of makes me question. It seems that when the doc listened to your lungs, wheezing, crackles, rhonchi, and/or labored breathing was suspected. Why you were not directed to take an expectorant … I don’t know!

C.O.P.D., if detected early … is not fatal like you speak of! It can be debilitating, but by your age + how short you smoked … Well, your outward diagnosis looks promising!

Q: Silent reflux – Chronic non productive cough?
I have been sick since the end of November with Acid Reflux type symptoms, spasming at the top of my chest, heartburn, backup and cough. My Gastrologist has put me thru every test and all came back negative. He has changed me from Prevacid 2x day to Aciphex 2x a day and all my symptoms are gone except this chronic non productive cough. This cough is so bad, I can hardly talk, my mouth and throat hurts, head aches etc from coughing so much. Now my Primary dr is sending me to an allergist.

Has anyone experienced this or know someone that has? I’m looking for more information. As this is March now, I’m really tired and frustrated with being sick.

Thank you all!

A: I had a similar experience (the cough) from Nov. ‘08 to Jan. “09 and nothing I tried including perscription remedies, worked. I was perscribed sinus allergy remedies and they didn’t work either.
I found the solution for me was a Neti Pot.
Google it and get one at a drug store or a health food store.
A Neti pot is an interesting looking little pot (similar to a pitcher or a sort of tea pot, without any cover). You fill it with water and non-iodized salt (I prefer sea salt) and you pour water from the elongated spout thru one nostril and the water comes out the other nostril. There will be instructions with the Neti pot showing how to do it.
It clears up the mucus coming from sinuses, which for me would drain down the back of my throat and cause me to have a chronic, non-productive cough. The cough was terrible and kept me from sleeping and more.
Believe it or not the Neti pot eliminated the cough.
Your ears, nose and throat are all connected and can be the source of coughs. The Neti pot only costs about $15 to $20. and it’s the best, quickest, least expensive remedy.
Try it, you may be very surprised. If that doesn’t work you may have a more serious problem.

Q: Celiac? Sjogren’s? Accurate HIV test result?
Here are my symptoms:

*Abdominal cramps/spasms
*Chronic fatigue
*Muscle aches/flu like feelings (intermittent)
*Allergies are worse (stuffy nose, horribly stinging/burning watery red eyes, intermittent)
*Sore feeling tongue (looks slightly yellowish near the back)
*Clothes are looser, but scale says I weigh the same
*Tingling and numbness in fingers, toes, hands, legs, even my scapl sometimes
*Dizzy spells
*Ataxia (slight stumbling, intermittent)
*Chronic heartburn/acid reflux (gurgling in throat, especially after I eat or get stressed out)
*Constipation
*Diarrhea
*Mucus/fat stuff (steatorrhea like) with diarrhea. Sometimes when I go to the bathroom, it will just be mucus by itself. Sometimes it will float. Sometimes it’s bloody
*Hard stools sometimes tend to tear my anus, causing it to bleed.
*Eye fatigue (they always feel tired)
*Exhaustion (after climbing steps or something)
*Shortness of breath
*Hot flashes/chills
*Eye pain (sharp shooting)
*Eye floaters (On 6/1/07, the eye specialist said my eyes were a little inflamed, probably due to allergies. On 2/12/08, the regular eye doctor said my eyes looked fine)
*Watery eyes
*Feels like mucus in the back of my htroat
*Burning & frequent urination (like a uti).
*Painful periods sometimes
*Slight joint pain sometimes
*Stiffness/morning stiffness (off and on)
*Slight nausea after eating sometimes or after being overstressed.
*Menstrual irregularity (has been like this since I was 11 years old)
*Depression, anxiety (have had these since around 6th grade)
*Potbelly (have always had one). I’m skinny, but I’ve always had a round belly that sticks out.
*Mouth sores/apthous ulcers (are usually painful and take awhile to heal because of the places they’re in)
*Sore throat (probably related to acid reflux). I’m always clearing my throat/slightly hoarse/feels like a lump in it.
*Weakness in arms and legs (feels like cement blocks attached to my legs sometimes)
*Celiac levels were slightly elevated
*WBC count was slightly elevated
*Blood pressure was lower than it usually is. 108 over something.

There’s probably more symptoms, But I can’t remember them all. I’m not sexually active. I have really bad ocd and have an immense fear of catching any kind of disease, especially HIV. I had an HIV test done in early december because on may 7th, 2007 I had gotten cut at a manicurist’s. I got my results on january 17th, 2008. It was negative. I’ve also had a stool sample and a urine sample done. The stool sample didn’t show anything ( I thought I had worms because of these little rice like thing in my stool). It’s been about 2 weeks since I had my urine sample done, and people still haven’t called me back. In late may of 2007, I had a CT scan done of my head because of the headaches I was getting. They found a 2 millimeter or something in the center of my brain. So on june 18th I had an MRI done of my head. But whatever it was had just disappeared. They believe it was some kind of fatty tissue and the doctors diagnosed me with tension headaches. I put myself under a lot of stress. I do take a lot of OTC medicines. Like tylenol, benadryl, protonix, gaviscon, etc…In late march of 2007, I had to take antibiotics because of an inner ear infection (water in the ear). I’m so sick of people telling me it’s all in my head or it’s just stress when clearly things are starting to get visible.

Do you think the HIV test result was wrong? I mean,it was after 7 months that I got tested. Don’t you think if I had anything it would’ve shown up by december, if I had gotten cut at the manicurist’s in may? IF I do have an autoimmune disease of some kind (like celiac or sjogren’s) or something like candida overgrowth, do you think it could’ve affected my HIV test results and caused a false negative? Or are the tests so sensitive that they only pick up/look for/discover HIV anitbodies and nothing else? What do you think this could all be? I was supposed to have an endoscopy and a colonoscopy done on 3/13 but I canceled because I’m paranoid about catching something from unsterilized tools. I’m going back to the doctor on 4/3/08 for more blood tests, and I am going back to the gastroenterologist on 4/24. I’ve had about 3 CBC’s and they’ve all been good until december when my WBC count was a little high. I had another cbc done in september and my cholesterol was a little high, but not by much. I’ve also had my elecrolytes checked and apparently they were fine too because she said everything looked fine except that my WBC was a little high.

Ok, sorry this was so long. I would greatly appreciate any help you could give me! Thanks!

A: With elevated celiac levels and your list of symptoms, you need to go on a gluten free diet and try that for 3-6 months and see how many of those symptoms clear up. The apthous ulcers that are really painful should be one of the first things you will see clear up if you in deed do have celiac disease. Contact a local chapter of www.csaceliacs.org and see if they can help you get started.
How old are you? If you have been on a gluten containing diet for a long time then it is possible most of these problems could be due to the cumulative effect of poor nutrition due to malabsorption in the small intestine due to intestinal wall damage caused by celiac disease.
So get on a gluten free diet and try it since you don’t want to have an endoscopy due to fear of infection.
Good luck!!!

Q: Heartburn feeling and Headaches?
I have been having two symptoms for the last 4 days now. One is a chronic and consistent, dull headache, centered just above my temples. The other has been a pain stretched from shoulders to the neck and back of my head, or constriction in my throat area, not a sore throat, but another, unusual feeling. It has now turned into intense heartburn kinda feeling. Lately, But this don’t happen all the time. Yesterday I was fine the entire day. I changed my meal to just boiled veges and bread just because of this and it seems if i eat alot or drink alot I seem to get this.

I have been to two doctors, both of whom dismissed these as “tension headaches” and hardly mentioned the heartburn or throat pain. I’m 29 and my preasure 80/128. I’m a programmer in profession and spend atleast 8 hrs infront of the screen..Is this somthing to do with my Eye site..

what may be wrong. I did start feeling bad, at least in my throat, after eating a meal.

Does anyone have any suggestions? I am in constant discomfort and pain each day unless I am sleeping, due to these two issues. I don’t feel like eating, working or anything else. I am just looking for any advice.

Thanks.

A: Hi there, it sounds like you are experiencing the symptoms of eyestrain. Try taking short breaks while working and also use ice and moist heat on your temples and neck. I would try using a chiropractor or a neurologist for this also. Ice packs does wonders for my headaches and neck pain. Also you might need to wear glasses or have to have your eyes checked. If you are having heartburn what foods were you eating and etc.

Q: Can any doctors or medical experts give me insight into this?
I have been feeling unwell for about 3 months. During this time i have had a type of middle ear infection, heartburn which led to chronic gastritis/stomach ulcers, vestibular weakness on right side, and now low TSH Thyroid as shown on recent blood test. Apart from this i am getting the ongoing symptoms of lightheadedness, hot flushes over my body, dullness, inability to concentrate, fatigue, weakness, spaced out “high” feeling and the feeling as if im not in this world.

I have done brain MRI scan, Abdomen scan which were normal. I have also seen neurologist, ENT & had a gastroscopy done.

I have had numerous blood tests with results of normal blood count except for mild liver count (*93) which is now decreasing. I have also done testing for HSV, Hep B&C, HIV in which all were NEGATIVE. I did a blood test in mid January for Thyroid TSH which was normal but recent blood test show the TSH level is low. I dont know why?

Havent been able to work for 3 months and have not felt normal
Doctors i’ve seen believe it came from a virus that has not exited my system?

It all started with just tingling on the fingertips of my left hand and then all those symptoms just seem to have started.

A: If as you say “the doctors” believe the causative agent is a virus, have you had viral panel? If yes, what was the result? If no, then why not?

Q: What early pregnancy symptoms did you experience?
My husband and I have been ttc for over a year. This last cycle was our last time trying before going back to the doctor, possible to be put on fertility meds. I have had one pregnancy that ended in miscarriage. Some of the symptoms I am having now are ones I had when I found out I was pregnant before. I still have a few days before I am suppose to start. I just wanted to hear what others first symptoms were. I know they are different for every woman, but actually most women experience a lot of the same ones.

I am having a chronic ache in my lower back, that does not go away, even if I take something. I am having heartburn, headaches, nausea and my boobs have been tender for over a week. The first time I was pregnant I had symptoms before I knew I was pregnant and it seemed almost immediately.

I do have some of these symptoms before starting my period, like the back pain, but it not in the same place as it is now. I also get the sore boobs and nausea. But like I said, my boobs have been really tender for over a week, sooner than with my period.

Just looking for others experiences with early symtoms. Thanks for your answers.

A: I just found out this morning, and I did not really have any symptoms, I thought this wasn’t going to be my month.. but I did have cramps for a few days and a horrible taste in my mouth and gas… weird huh?!?! sounds like you may be, good luck to you with tons of Baby dust coming your way!!

Q: explain in detail the cause, symptoms, and treatment of heartburn.?

A: In a nutshell. Heartburn is caused by the gastric acid in your stomach to come up through your esophagus. This acid will burn your esophageal walls causing the burning sensation in your chest. A few causes are your food and drinks. Do you eat a lot of fruit? Stuff like oranges, lemons, grapefruit are all very acidic. My biggest problem is fried foods and pop. Fried foods can really put a hurt on you. The other thing is pop. I’m a huge Coke drinker. Coke, Gatorate and lemonade are VERY acidic. Anything acidic will get bouts of heartburn going. There are a ton a rx’s for heartburn… Prevacid, Protonix, Aciphex. Some of the over-the-counter products would be Prilosec, tums and the BEST product – ->> MILK! When I get heartburn I drink milk. Milk kinda acts like a firehose on a housefire (just as an example.) Milk will give you almost immediate relief. Good luck… (from 1 fellow hearburn sufferer to another.)

Q: Went off of Prilosec a couple of weeks ago and now have worse heartburn than before?
I was on it for 3 months and my symptoms went away. But since I’ve been off, they’ve been worse than every. Does anyone know of any herbal remedies or other treatments that are effective?

A: Believe it or not vinegar works wonders for heartburn. Sleep on your left side… No coffee, no alcohol, no cigarettes, no spicy foods, no PORK! (at least these are my no no’s!) I still drink wine, I still smoke, I still eat pork occassionally, but all these things give me extreme heartburn!!! LOL~ great advice giver huh?? I take Famotadine for my heartburn, 40mg in morning and 40mg at night…sometimes I get the breakthrough heartburn while I am trying to sleep… Most always try to sleep on your left side, which keeps your asophogous over your heart – dont know why this works, but it does. The main thing to remember is heartburn is sometimes symptomatic of other health problems…I do suggest a trip to the doctor and get checked out… Its worth it even if you have to go to a walk in clinic….In my case I dont have health insurance because I cant afford it. But I couldn’t survive without the medicine… I have bad acid reflux – which if not treated does cause problems with a number of things in your throat too.

Q: does anyone knw any info about omeprazole im doin a drug project in health and i need something intersesting?
*****DO NOT READDDD** ITS JUST THE INFO I GOT ALREADDYY.

Omeprazole
Generic Name: omeprazole (oh MEP ra zol)
Brand names: Prilosec
What is omeprazole?
Omeprazole decreases the amount of acid produced in the stomach.
Omeprazole is used to treat symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and other conditions caused by excess stomach acid. It is also used to promote healing of erosive esophagitis (damage to your esophagus caused by stomach acid).
Omeprazole may also be given together with antibiotics to treat gastric ulcer caused by infection with helicobacter pylori (H. pylori).
Omeprazole may also be used for other purposes not listed in this medication guide.
Important information omeprazole
Before using omeprazole, tell your doctor if you are allergic to any drugs, or if you have heart disease or liver disease. You may need a dose adjustment or special tests to safely take this medication.
Omeprazole is not for immediate relief of heartburn symptoms.
Some conditions are treated with a combination of omeprazole and antibiotics. To best treat your condition, use all of your medications as directed by your doctor. Be sure to read the medication guide or patient instructions provided with each of your medications. Do not change your doses or medication schedule without advice from your doctor.
Take omeprazole for the entire length of time prescribed by your doctor. Your symptoms may get better before the condition is completely treated.
Prilosec OTC (over-the-counter) should be taken only once every 24 hours for 14 days. It may take up to 4 days for full effect. Do not take more than one tablet every 24 hours.
Allow at least 4 months to pass before you start another 14-day treatment with Prilosec OTC. Call your doctor if you have additional symptoms and need treatment before the 4 months has passed.

How should I take omeprazole?
Omeprazole is not for immediate relief of heartburn symptoms.
Take omeprazole exactly as directed on the label, or as it was prescribed for you. Do not take the medication in larger amounts, or take it for longer than recommended by your doctor. Follow the directions on the medicine label or on your prescription label.
Omeprazole is usually taken before eating. Follow your doctor’s instructions.
Do not crush, chew, or break an omeprazole enteric-coated tablet. Swallow the tablet whole. The enteric-coated tablet has a special coating to protect your stomach. Breaking the tablet could damage this coating.
You may open the omeprazole delayed-release capsule and sprinkle the medicine into a spoonful of applesauce to make swallowing easier. Swallow this mixture right away without chewing. Do not save the mixture for later use. Discard the empty capsule.
Dissolve the powder in a small amount of water. Use 1 teaspoon of water for the 2.5-mg packet, or 1 tablespoon of water for the 10-mg packet. Let the mixture stand for 2 or 3 minutes, then stir and drink right away. To make sure you get the entire dose, ad

A: heat a cup with hot water, take sips of it, might take a couple or more cups, but you should start burping, which will relieve it. i know it is scary, so try not to worry… i will say that if after a hour of sipping hot water and you do not get relief, i would call your local hospital and ask to talk to a advice nurse… if it does not get better i would go to the er for more help… hope the hot water works, it does for me………..

Q: Which disease has these symptoms: irritating throat, dry throat, vomit white liquid/spiting her saliva…?
and coughing?

It’s been 3 months now and my mom still suffer from these symptoms, and the stupid doctor still does NOT know what causing it. She gave her cough medicine and it didn’t work, then she gave her some kind of inhaler and still not working. I took her to another doctor and she turned out more idiot than the other one. She gave her an prevacid which like a heart burn medicine. Even though she doesn’t suffer from heartburn she still took and it didn’t work.

Have you or any one you know suffered from these symptoms and what was it and the treatment.
Thanks for any help.

A: Sounds like a bad case of allergies!! I too have been “sick” for 5 months, been to many doctors that don’t know thier head from thier butts!! LOL They have me taking different 3 different allergy medication, decongestant, was on antibotic and steriods for a short time!! Just wondering if you live in Texas? I have been to a pulmonary specialist, still nothing. The vomit that you are talking about, is Phlegm/mucus, as long as its white there is not infection! When it starts turning colors, yellow, green… then there is an infection!!

Hope she feels better, wish I could help… going through the same issues!! Nothing seems to help!! I was informed to ask my doctors about prednisone, it is used for many things, and severe allergic reaction is one of them… maybe your mom needs to do the same!!

Hope this helps!!

Q: Help!! Im having really bad symptoms lately, and it’s super horrible!?
It all started like 3 weeks ago.I had chest pain the doctor said that it was a spam coronary, that’s what he said. After an overnight at the hospital they prescribed me a bunch of pills for my heart treatment, when i’ve never had problem with my heart. So anyway i did take them like the doctor said, but those pills were giving me gasses, stomach aches, pinches, heartburn i mean you name it, the pills were LIPITOR, PLAVIX, CORAZEM, ASPIRIN and another that i dont remember now…so i when again to the doctor and he ordered me to do and (ecc) and an electrocardiagram, everything came out fine but thru the days i was feeling with anxiety, panics attacks, chills, pinches i mean…..so now i take TAFIL to ease me down, i guess its a drug.i read it on the internet…. anyway, im still having those weirds symptoms from time to time….if anybody can advise me or has an opinion please me be my guest! I really feel scare of dying because of it,or maybe its just a fear, thank you 4 ur help! DAVE
I’ve gone to 3 different Cardiologist and none of them tell me what’s wrong. They said to take it easy and relax. I dont know whatelse to do.

A: Hey bud it’s simple, if you have any doubts about your doctor I would have a second opinion especially if it is your heart that your dealing with that is nothing to let go for to long. Just keep your head up and be strong it will all get worked out just go and get a second opinion. Good Luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Q: hi i don’t know whether i am pregnant or not i have no symptoms except for glowing skin, missed period?
and heartburn and excessive salivation. i miscarried five years ago and later even when i went for fertility treatment nothing happened. i have a history of PCOS and ovarian fibroids. now this missed period please can anyone help me i am scared of going to the gynec in case if the pregnancy test is negative please help me

A: Take a home pregnancy test.

Q: I had an STD and got treatment … but I’m not better!?
Hi.
I ruined my perfect life by having sex with someone I shouldn’t have had sex with. And yes, I did it unprotected, like the biggest idiot alive. I ended up contracting Trichomoniasis, as proved to me by an ER doctor. They also tested me for chlamydia and gonorrhea, which I assume I came up negative for, because they never called me back, and they only call you if you have the infection. I also tested for BV and a yeast infection, which I also think came back negative, or they would have called me. So they gave me some Flagyl pills, and I took one pill per day for four days. On the fourth day, I finally began to feel relief from my horrible symptoms. The painful urination was gone. But the itch continues! It’s been about four days since I completed my medication, and the itch should be gone, but it’s not. Since I don’t have gonorrhea, chlamydia, BV or thrush, what could be making my vagina itch like this? I have no signs of bumps or sores.
The man who gave me the infection is a Black male, age 23, living on the east coast.

My symptoms right now are:
Itching vagina
Sensitive / tender vagina (which is a symptom of Trichomoniasis)

I haven’t been eating lately, due to stress. I have also noticed some changes in my health that I am not sure if they are due to stress or not. These symptoms include: slight sore throat, I woke up with horrible indegestion and heartburn this morning, loss of appetite, depression.

My questions are:
Why is my vagina still itching? Is it possible that I got a yeast infection (thrush) from the Flagyl antibiotics? Flagyl is not notorious for causing yeast infections, like most other antibiotics. Are my other symptoms due to stress, or is it also likely I may have HIV (based on my symptoms). Or am I just worrying myself sick?

I need some advice.
@Brandon – Thank you. It helps to hear this from someone else. Oh, by the way, I started the new sex partner about two months ago. Do you think that’s too soon to be experiencing loss of appetite, indegestion and sore throat due to HIV infection? Thanks for saying it didn’t ruin my life… it feels like it did because of this worry I have. I can’t imagine ever having unprotected sex again, ever in my non-married life. I can’t believe I made such a horrible mistake!!
BTW, I’m one of the many non-insured Americans, so I have to wait until Saturday to be able to go to the Planned Parenthood clinic for a full test. I actually went to the ER to find out about my Trichomoniasis / Trichomonas infection, because the symptoms were so strong and uncomfortable.

A: Go to your doctor. Could be the antibiotics were ineffective or you did develop a secondary yeast infection. And, no… Way too soon for HIV.

Getting a treatable STD did not ruin your life. Just gave you a lesson about what you should do in the future.

Q: Are these “symptoms” related at all?
I don’t have health insurance, and I don’t have the money to go to the doctor unless I have absolutely no choice. I’ve felt a little hypochondriatic lately, so I want to know if I’m obsessing over nothing or if I have any reason to be worried.

I am 19 years old and female. I am not on any medication.

I’ve had what my family has taken to calling “chronic dry lips” for over a year and a half now. I’ve used every single lip balm, lip ointment, and medical lip treatment on the market pretty much. My family even calls me a “lip treatment addict” because I apply so much, but my lips continue to feel dry and they sting from lack of moisture and they’re always dry and peeling.

I have never been lactose intolerant before, but lately, dairy products have given me terrible stomach pains to the point that I have pretty much written them completely out of my diet.

I have also just recently started to get terrible heartburn. But here is the strange part… I’ve been getting heartburn from green vegetables, particularly broccoli and celery. So, I’ve also had to write them out of my diet as well. However, salsa and spicy foods like peppers and curry are still fine.

I have started to pee a lot regularly, too. In an hour, I usually pee from anywhere from twice to up to 10 times.

I have constantly and consistently gotten canker sores in my mouth for the past five years or so. Usually, I will get two to five at once in my mouth, making it nearly impossible to eat. It will usually take about a week or so for them to heal up and go away, and then – about 3 weeks later – I will get more. Almost as if they’re on a schedule.

For the past week and a half, I have been having back pain in my lower back. It appeared suddenly without any provocation. I just went to sit down when I first noticed it, and I had not done any heavy lifting or muscle pulling exercises beforehand. It’s localized to my lower back, and if I do not try to stretch the muscles in my lower back in anyway, I can almost forget about it.

I am taking online classes, and I am unemployed, so my schedule is my own. But lately, I have been sleeping 12 to 14 hours every night. Sometimes the sleep is interrupted, where I will wake up but just not have the energy to get up yet, so that I fall back to sleep, but most nights, it’s an uninterrupted sleep. I always wake up with that really groggy, heavy feeling, and it lets me know that I slept too long immediately.

I live with 4 other people, and while they are often comfortable in our house, I feel freezing almost all the time. I am so cold sometimes, that I shiver to the point where I’m in pain from the muscle spasms. Because of this, my housemates have to heed my request to turn up the temperature. I often do not feel comfortable unless the temperature is above 75*F (23.8*C), and even then, sometimes I still shiver, and we have to put it up to 79*F (26.1*C).

For the past year and a half, I have just now started to get any acne at all, and the amount has been pretty drastic. My face is usually pretty bad, but the main problem is my chest. As a female, this is very embarrassing to have such bad acne on my chest. It covers from my collarbones down to the top of my breasts. It’s pretty localized.

I am very sensitive to the touch. My brother or parents will grab my arm sometimes, just to get my attention, and I will cry out in pain, because it feels as if their fingers are digging into my skin. My brother will flick me with a pencil just to be annoying, and it will hurt so badly that the pain will linger for up to 5 minutes afterward. I even, as I put it, “bruise like a peach” to the point where even my cat, just jumping into my lap, has left bruise marks across my thighs.

I have this one particular “bruise” along my bikini line that has been there for over a year, if not longer (I forget when I first got it). I say “bruise,” because it only hurts sometimes, so it is almost more like a skin discoloration, though it is the color of a fresh, purple bruise. Sometimes, the spot will flare up so that the elastic on my underwear alone will be very painful. During that time, I often have to squeeze at the spot, and often times, pus will come out (though not always).

Also in the past year, I have been getting headaches more frequently. They aren’t migraines, so they’re bearable, but I would rather not have to bear them at all, as I’m sure you can imagine.

I am not pregnant, before anybody suggests it (as I have seen many people just say that to ANY symptoms), as I have not had sex in over a year.

So… is this all just crappy coincidence? Or is there a chain here somewhere that I’m failing to see?

A: Sounds like a lot of little things going on, your back could be your kidneys, to see if you are dehydrated, pinch the skin on the back of your hand, if it stays up you need to get more fluid into you. Please go to a free clinic asap. I am not in the medical field, but this does not sound good.

Q: I think I need to see a gastroenterologist?
I’ve had many digestive problems for the past year and half, almost two years…I went to my doctor (GP) and she said that I need to see a gastroenterologist because of my heartburn that is unresponsive to treatment. I’ve also had a lot more troubling stomach problems, too. My question is, I need to get a referral from my doctor for it, and I don’t know what to put for the reason. Can someone help me think of what to tell my doctor to put on the referral? Here are my symptoms:
nausea/heartburn
severe gas and stomach cramps
frequent stomachaches
alternating constipation/diarrhea

A: Your reason would be “unresolved digestive issues”.
And with those symptoms, while you are waiting to get in to see the gastroenterologist get your GP to order a celiac screening blood test panel. Those are all symptoms of celiac. Good luck and do NOT let anyone tell you “IBS” until they have exhausted all other testing!!!

Q: list of symptoms please read…………..?
ok so i have asked a lot of questions regarding anxiety. But the anxiety treatments don’t seem to be helping. I am not on any prescriptions at all and for the anxiety i have been to a doc who has done breathing and relaxation excercises these seem to work for a while and then it comes back so i am starting to wonder if this is anxeity if anyone has experienced any of this please help. I will feel normal and then all of the sudden i will be hit with a feeling of being shaky, weak, lightheaded and my head will also feel somewhat heavy, and while i feel light headed i also feel like there is a lot of blood in my head, nauseous, lumpy feeling in throat, heart tremors and starting today i had an intense burning feeling in my chest it lasted for about 3 mins like a very strong heartburn and this caused me to become paniky. I also will sometimes have a weird bitterish bloodish taste in my mouth and feel extremly thirsty and nothing i drink will really help. I also feel less energetic and sore in my neck and back a lot more.I will also get either really cold or hot during this and then sometimes feel like i will have loose stools after them but don’t i have had blood done to test for my thyroid and anemia but everything was normal. So like i said i’ve been seeing someone for anxeity but I have lived with this for three months and it just seems to get worse. I can aslo feel kinda cramped in my stomach someimes with it too. I am not on ANY meds. and until three months ago was completely happy normal peppy etc. I am just the opposite now and sometimes i just feel like crying because life has just seemed to loose a lot with this so now i am worried about maybe i am depressed. I dunno what could be causing any of this but if anyone out there has had anything similar or knows anything please help! I am going to see the doc again tomorrow about my panic but i just want to know if any one knows anything before then! thank you soooo much!!!!!!!
I turned 18 in november and actually all this started on my birthday night. no one else n my fam as far as i know has had anything like this my dad and his mom suffered from anxiety though. i also have a stuffy feeling in my ears and sometimes shaking my leg helps

A: How old are you? I would recommend a full physical assessment. If there is no physical reasons for your condition, then a neuro-psych evaluation is indicated. Think about finding an different physician. What is your family history? Your history? All these things determine or lead toward a diagnosis.

Q: help please..?
please help me finish this,
thank you so much
best answer ten points=]

1: The ingredient acetaminophen found in cold remedies and pain killers:

Q: Mysterious Instant Stomach Troubles
Going to be as brief as possible: 21, male, healthy. Large build 230, 6′2. Drank wine a bit consistently for 5-6 months, no problems. Drank other hard liquor in the past, no problems. Tried Gin on June 6th, half a bottle (Seagram’s Extra Dry mixed with lemon juice and ginger ale..I don’t usually mix, was doing so for fun). Immediately noticed I had to keep taking deep breaths/out of breath sensation, stopped. Not sure if the Japanese food (sushi etc.) could’ve had an impact. Drank Jack Daniels and rot gut vodka before, so it was not a matter of tolerance or alcohol exposure.

Next day woke up to a feeling below the throat, felt like a constant need to cough. Went to the doctor…EKG, Chest X-Ray, Barium Swallow, Spirometer/Flow Meter (lung test), Gallbladder Liver scan, all negative. Endoscopy showed a very very small 3-4 cm sliding hiatal hernia, deemed asymptomatic (does not produce symptoms) as it was so small it didn’t even show on the Barium Swallow X-ray. Endoscopy showed no irritation, irregularities or inflammation. Allergy tests showed nothing, Clarinex did nothing.

Symptoms are: Constant cough/irritation between collar bones, murky/powdery stools (as if you were to flush powder from the bottom of the toilet bowl and it billows up), sinus congestion, excessive burping, extreme fatigue, minor heart palpitations, yellow/white coated tongue, hurts to take a deep breath. Spaced out/tired after eating, worse than the “after turkey meal feeling”. Excessive salivation/sweet tasting salivation. Hear an intermittent sound like gas escaping through my esophagus to my neck when I lie down. No heartburn whatsoever. Odd sour taste at back of mouth.

No history of any problems, no history of hypochondria, not psychological (Ativan and other sedatives did nothing). Antibiotics did nothing.

A homeopath suggested Nux Vomica, did nothing but calm me mentally.

Acid reflux/GERD was suggested, took Prilosec, Zantac, Pepcid AC, no effect. Moved to PPI’s (strongest stuff they got), Protonix/Aciphex/Zegerid, did nothing.

It has been 2 months, the symptoms persist despite diet changes. Suggestions regarding a decrease in weight were made. Factors of environment include mold under my water bed that has grown over the years due to frequent popping of the tubes. A plan to replace the bed is underway. It has been suggested that the mold is causing this, or perhaps a Candida Albicans yeast overgrowth, however, the reaction to the Gin was sudden, instant, and very acute. I felt no symptoms whatsoever prior to consumption.

5 doctors, a gastroenterologist, a pulmonary specialist, 10 health coach’s/nurses from the insurance company, a renowned medical researcher, and a famous health expert who exposed a pharmaceutical scam had no clue whatsoever, and were completely baffled.

I have gotten some guidance from a Chinese medicine woman/acupuncturist and am undergoing treatment through TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine).

Nevertheless, I am asking for your opinions. Do not tell me I have “GERD” or “acid reflux disease”, those ailments are not diseases, and my symptoms/tests defy such a diagnosis. I am more knowledgeable about Acid Reflux/GERD than most doctors at this point, and I know I don’t have it. I know every test used to detect it, and every “health tip” recommended for it, so don’t waste my time or yours by spamming it.

I am looking for alternative causes.

Thank you
Looking for more answers

A: I am in no way a medical professional, but I have to respond because I have twice in my life had conditions that could not be diagnosed. Both eventually were, but what a horror show until then.

My first thought on reading as far as your instant reaction to the gin potion was allergy. Short of a pre-existing condition, I can’t think of anything, other than a poison, that could act that fast.

As I read further, I was going to mention mold but then you did. Mold is insidious. Mold can cause hundreds of nasty symptoms. That you had been sleeping on it for god knows how long means that you were breathing it in all that time even though you didn’t know it was there. I don’t know if there is a medical specialty in mycology but it might be a place to start.

Also, consider that what’s going on may have been caused by more than one condition or more than one allergen or mold or … If the gin event was an allergy, maybe it triggered nasty mold spores that had been hidden in your larynx.. I mean, I’m just throwing out ideas here, but it could be two or three different maladies.

In any case, don’t give up. There is a doctor who knows what it is and has at least an idea how to cure it.

Good luck.

Q: Anybody have an easy pregnancy?
I have PCOS and worried about getting pregnant, but once I went on metformin for treatment and we started trying I got pregnant 2 months after we started trying. I had hardly any pregnancy symptoms just a little nausea and heartburn and some back pain and a little insomnia towards the end but all in all I felt amazing during my whole pregnancy. I had no complications, managed to stick to my 30lbs weight gain goal (gained 33 exactly!), and delivered a 7lbs 7oz baby girl at 40 weeks 3 days. My labor was on the longish side (20 hours total) but I did make it without an epidural, and the only issue was I vomited quite a bit during delivery. Otherwise, minimal tearing, and was permitted to go home within 24 hours. It was a wonderful experience (I just hope my 2nd turns out that fab). I was just wondering did anybody else have it that easy? Like I hear a lot of people talk about how miserable it was…but did anybody have an experience like mine? I mean I felt better while I was pregnant…except the very last month cuz it was July and I felt like a whale and had to take an ice cold bath daily! lol. So what about your experiences?

A: I had a very easy pregnancy as well. No nausea, heart burn, stretch marks or anything. I went from 127lbs to 163lbs (I’m 5′ 9″) at time of labor and delivery and dropped back down to 130lbs right after delivery. I was in labor for 10 hrs and pushed her out very quickly. Couldn’t get the epidural because I have a slight weird curve in my lower spine and it couldn’t be put in correctly. I tore a bit but that’s it. Aside from slightly less perky boobs, I look exactly as I did before I became pregnant:)
