Q: What are all of the symptoms of acid reflux disease?
Preferrably people who have acid reflux only please.

A: Heartburn more than 2 times per week and very severe, worse at nighttime, isn’t helped much by OTC heartburn meds, and often accompanied by bad tastes in your mouth and sometimes even burping.

Once in a while you might have an “episode” I don’t know how else to name it. Your heart beats faster, your chest hurts, your palms get sweaty, and you feel like you’re gonna have a heart attack, but it’s actually acid reflux.

Q: What are the symptoms of acid reflux disease?
How can you reduce the symptoms?

A: have apple or pineapple juice. thy sort your stomach out straight away. or black grapes before bed time and have warm water after it. constipation can cause i t, eating too fast can cause it too or just your metablism can do it. stress causes it. all sorts can bring it on. spicy food too etc. for some ppl milk works, for others, it makes it worse. depends which one of them u are.

Q: Acid Reflux Disease symptoms?
OK, so for about 3 weeks now I’ve been getting a very tight throat/closing throat sensation… Its absolutely horrible, and it feels like its cutting off my breathing. I get palpitations along with it, probably because i have severe anxiety, and this issue causes panic!!! I also get heartburn every 2 days or so, doesnt last very long. With that, ive been vomiting for the past 3 days, and there was a tiny amount of bright red blood 1 time…. Ive also had diarreah for the past 4 days! =[ Im looking up stuff online, and it seems like GERD… what do u guys think? Did any of u have similar symptoms? Ive been 2 the stupid doctors around where i lived, and all they say is “ur throat is dry” but believe me, this is DEFINITELY more serious than that! So today when i go, i WILL make sure something gets done!…

A: Hi I am Brandon

I have Acid Reflux and my dr was really good. My symptoms are:
> Horrible taste in my mouth especially in the morning
> Croaky voice in the morning (that may be a guy thing)
> Severe like crippling stomach craps now and then

Also some people choke really easy or sore throat.

Im only 17 so I dont know but the blood and diahorrea sounds a bit worrying so if the dr says no try the hospital.

And good luck

I am taking 2 different types of pill which help reduce the taste and pain

Q: What are some signs/symptoms of Acid Reflux Disease?
I have awful heartburn at random times during the day, prominent when I run or exercise. painful stinging in back of throat.

A: Usually for acid reflux your body makes alot of acid, and you may feel kinda sick in the morning from this buildup. If you feel stinging in the back of your throat it could be from the acid coming from your stomach, it happens when the muscle in your esophagus does not close all the way thus letting acid come up, especially if you are laying down which can become serious since it can burn your lining of your throat inside. It would be a good idea to see a doctor because if it is acid reflux he can give you some medications. Good luck

Q: What are the symptoms of Acid Reflux Disease (GERD)????

A: I’ve had it for several years. Symptoms vary with the individual. Mine mimicked those of a heart attack at first. Chest pain, pain in right arm, sudden, profuse sweating, light-headedness. I drove myself to the hospital, was kept overnight for observation, passed a stress test with no problems, nothing else was found. That’s when acid reflux was diagnosed. Sometimes it’s mere heartburn, but there are times, especially in the morning, when I suddenly feel lousy, tightness in my chest, I begin to sweat, but I don’t panic anymore because I know that in a few minutes, I’ll burp a couple of times and get rid of the gas that causes the symptoms, and then I feel just fine.

Zantac works pretty well but I take it only when I get the symptoms in the evening, before bed.

Q: HELP! I need to write a brief SOAP note. 30 year old female showing symptoms of acid reflux disease?
I need to use acronyms and abbreviations associated with medical terminology. The SOAP note is about a 30 year old female exhibiting signs of acid reflux disease. In addition, are there any good websites that have acronyms and abbreviaitons associated with medical terminology? PLEASE HELP! This is really confusing for me. I understand some acromyns and abbreviations but some have different meanings. Thank you!

A: Hi,

I use this one all the times http://www.all-acronyms.com/?g=7

Good luck.

Q: Are there over the counter medications that can be used to treat acid reflux disease?
The reason I am asking is because my son seems to be having a few symptoms related to acid reflux disease and I was wondering if there are some over the counter medications that are available to treat this?

A: your son? younger people rarely have this problem
it could be a symptom of disease or ulcer
young people do get ulcers
how much junk and soda does he consume
soda has acid as well as sugar in it
it could also be stress
do not give him OTC medications take him to the doctor yo find out what is wrong first

Q: How to tell if you have acid reflux disease?
I’m a firm believer that the world is over-prescribed. I think that pharmaceutical companies just want to give you a pill for everything under the sun. So with that in mind I never thought I would get acid reflux disease. I always thought that I could just live with general acid reflux, because so many people have in the past and they got along just fine.
So my question is: how can you tell if you have acid reflux? What are the symptoms and if I have it, how can I reduce it without medication.

Thanks in advance.

A: You need to see a doc if you think you have it for a confirmed diagnosis and a cause. You may have a hiatal hernia causing it but you would never know if you don’t see a doc. GERD is not something you can not treat as left unteated it can lead to esophogeal erosion which is serious. My dad never realized he had GERD and now has esophogeal erosion. See your doc if you think you have it.

Q: Medical Diagnosis -> Symptoms: Acid Reflux and Bloody stool. What could it be?
Medical Diagnosis -> Symptoms: Acid Reflux and Bloody stool. What could it be?
A good friend of mine called me up the other day and she told me that about 2 years ago she was diagnosed with Acid Reflux disease, she said she went for an Upper GI and all and it confirmed it, she was put on Prevacid and when that didn;t work she began using Nexium, that put a stop to it after taking only 1/2 of the first perscibed bottle. Now she tells me she has found bood in her stool (fecies) and she is worried something may be wrong. I said “Julie you should see a doctor” but she said she was too embarrassed. What could she have? I looked around online with her and we didn’t find anything, but the symptoms sound to me like a stomach ulcer or IBS or some other problem with her stomach or intestines. Does anyone know what she could have? Do you think it’s serious? What do you know about it?

A: ulcerated collitus, it has something to do with your colon. My friend has this she has to get colonoscamys and take meds. sorry for the spelling those are hard words.

Q: Is acid reflux a symptom of coeliac disease?
I have had really bad acid reflux for the past about 6 months, after a bout of taking a lot of pain killers and anti inflammatorys. I also have pernicious anemia and I was just curious to know if the two were related and if acid reflux could be a symptom of coeliac disease?

A: Acid reflux is not a symptom of coeliac disease and if your PA is antibody positive it has no relationship to your reflux either.

Q: How does someone die of Acid Reflux disease?
And acquaintence of mine claims that someone he knew died of complications related to Acid Reflux disease? It seems absurd to me. How is this possible? Even if it is, wouldn’t the symptoms before actual death be so severe that the person would seek out an emergency room, before the disease became lethal???

A: Several possibilities arise. With acid reflux, it is possible to aspirate stomach contents into the lungs and develop pneumonia. In a severe case, you could actually suffocate.

Over time, the acid from the stomach can erode the esophagus. Eventually there could be a massive bleed out.

Acid reflux is nothing to mess with. Unfortunately, a lot of people just think they have bad indigestion and grab a tums. If you have bad heartburn on a regular basis, see a doctor.

Q: can I have acid reflux disease if I don’t have heartburn?
I have sporadic sore throat and coughing, chest pains, nausea, and hoarseness. Usually the symptoms occur seperately or in pairs. Could I have acid reflux disease?

A: Acid reflex disease can be very serious. It can cause alot of problems including gastrointestinal bleeds and aspiration pneumonia. I sounds like that is what you might have. BUT, see your doctor first. Don’t treat your self. OTC medications can have serious side effect when mixed with other medications. Just because it is OTC does not mean it is always safe to take. You may had H pylori of another problem that needs to be treated.

Q: I have been diagnosed with acid reflux disease/GERD. I also have anxiety disorder. I have very weird symptoms.
I am 40mg of Protonix twice daily. My problem is though, about 3-4 times a day my chest gets these very weird pains in them. More like pressure. And this also is on my throat. They uncomfort lasts about 20 minutes all the way up to 3 hours. Also, about once or twice a day my heart feels like its skipping a major beat. But I feel my pulse and it’s okay. Around 85-95 BPM. The uncomfort pretty much comes after I eat, and it feels like there is food maybe in my lower/mid esophogas. But these episodes with my heart feeling like its skipping beats really worries me. My anxiety is not an issue with this problem, I am on .25 mg of Xanax (Alprazolam) for that. But this uncomfort is really bugging me. It also kind of goes up my neck also. Which makes me think heart attack, but I’ve had every test done for my heart. All my blood work is okay, and my stress echo came back good as well. I just want to know if I’m having spasams in my esophogas or something else? Please help.
Also. This mostly happens at the end of the day. I dont believe it is stress related because I quit my job not too long ago, and I am okay financially. I get headaches a lot, and also strained vision.
One more thing. The acid is not a problem in my stomach anymore. I do not have so called “heartburn”. The acid is kept down pretty well with the Protonix. Its the “episodes” where my throat and chest “freak out”, or spasam? And the constant feeling of something in my throat. And it is very easy for me to vomit whatever I ate, even 4 hours afterwards. I hope this is enough information for you guys. Many answers would be nice.
And, also the constant pressure on my chest. I just want to know if this is gastro related or what? And if anyone has ever heard of this. It feels like I am short of breath, then all of a sudden I kind of burp, but it does not relieve the symptom.

A: Incompetence of the lower esophageal sphincter allows reflux of gastric contents into the esophagus, causing burning pain. Prolonged reflux may lead to esophagitis, stricture, and rarely metaplasia. Diagnosis is clinical, sometimes with endoscopy, with or without acid testing. Treatment involves lifestyle modification, acid suppression using proton pump inhibitors, and sometimes surgery.
Certain foods and lifestyle are considered to promote gastroesophageal reflux:
Coffee, alcohol, and excessive amounts of Vitamin C supplements are stimulants of gastric acid secretion. Taking these before bedtime especially can promote evening reflux. Calcium containing antacids are in this group.
Foods high in fats and smoking reduce lower esophageal sphincter competence, so avoiding these tends to help, as well. Fat also delays emptying of the stomach.
Having more but smaller meals also reduces the risk of GERD, as it means there is less food in the stomach at any one time.
avoid eating for 2 hours before bedtime
avoid soft drinks
avoid chocolate and peppermint
avoid spicy foods
avoid acidic foods like oranges and tomatoes (however, they are okay when fresh.)
avoid cruciferous vegetables: onions, cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli, spinach, brussel sprouts
milk and milk-based products contain calcium and fat, so should be avoided before bedtime
Generalized anxiety disorder is characterized by excessive, almost daily, anxiety and worry for ≥ 6 mo about many activities or events. The cause is unknown, although it commonly coexists in people who have alcohol abuse, major depression, or panic disorder. Diagnosis is based on history and physical examination. Treatment is psychotherapy, drug therapy, or both.
Please see the web pages for more details on GERD, Generalized anxiety disorder, Pantoprazole (generic name) Protonix (brand name) and Alprazolam (generic name) Xanax (brand name).

Q: Have i actually got Acid Reflux Disease(GERD)??
I’m 18 and i have recently been diagnosed with IBS, but before i knew what was up with me i took 2 STRONG Ibuprofen twice a day for about 2 weeks, but after stopping taking it when i found out i got symptoms of Acid Reflux – chest pains, sore throat, pain from neck to above navel, pain in my neck (botton of my throat) pain under my breast bone, back ache, etc. But i took some medicine for it and it went away, but then i irritated it (without realising) by taking Paracetamol, silly me.
So i went to the doctors and she gave me a tablet to take every day for 2 weeks, but i took it today and still no luck, but i know it takes a few days for tablets to kick in.
Is it normal with Acid Reflux to get pain under my breast bone in the middle and also in the left stomach area? The pain travels up and down. I also get very queezy and i suffer from random hiccups, which drive me crazy!
Its just i suffer from Hyprocondria and i keep thinking i could die, how stupid.
Any1?

A: I hope this helps. A lot of problems come from how/what we eat and combine our foods together. Let me explain.

It was the first time I cooked dinner for my then-boyfriend. I didn’t know it back then, but my own cure began with a question from this man who would later become my husband(Mike)

Shortly after we met, I made dinner for him and he asked if it would be alright if he didn’t eat one of the foods I had prepared. He said it all looked wonderful, but that the combination would give him a stomach ache. I didn’t know what he meant, since nothing was fried and no hot spices were used.

It was then that he asked me the question that literally changed my life forever!

Mike asked me, “Have you heard of food combining?”

My immediate answer was “no” I hadn’t heard of it. Even though it wasn’t anything new, and had been endorsed by many health experts, peak performance experts and celebrities and more – I really had never heard of FOOD COMBINING.

After hearing about how “mis-combining” leads to acidosis, acid-reflux, heartburn and a host of other digestive problems, I had my first “properly combined” meal…

And I HAD ABSOLUTELY NO SYMPTOMS WHATSOEVER!

NO PAIN! NOTHING!

That’s right…

NO cramps
NO bloated stomach
NO excessive gas
NO ‘IBS’
NO acid reflux
NO constipation
NO running to the bathroom
NO horrendous pain

Can you imagine how relieved I felt after all those years? If you have ever suffered any of these symptoms, even mildly, you will understand why I was wild with joy!
